Yup, typical for the style. Actually though, has a nice hop bite that at least lingers a bit. The color is better in person, but still ain't pretty.

Yeah, I just grabbed a quick pick, at the bar, with folks behind me. Don't judge the beer on my bad phone skillz.

Yeah, that might have been enough to get me to show up, but, I'm committed to the Kill-a-Keg event at Stones Throw.

One night stop on the way to Portland, hoping it's not insanely busy but we do have all night.

The Brewers Panel at Stones Throw last night was very fun and informative. Tonya and Ian from Ten Barrel brought amazing beers, and we got to talk about several aspects of brewing and writing recipes that I found fascinating.

So BBW has come to a close for this year, and it seemed to have had reasonably good turnouts for most events. The Walk for a Paws event had over 50 pooches, April Brews Day, even though expanded, was still a crowded hootenanny, the various brewers nights seemed to have good turnouts, just all-around a good week. I got to spend some time with one of my Rock Star brewers, Tonya Cornett, and see a bunch of industry folks i don't get to catch up with all that often. Good times.

    Well, since ya asked....

Because of the coffee, it wasn't a beer that I was going to seek out. But, a couple of our regulars here, asked, if I saw it, would I grab some. As it happened, I had to seek it out. I found it at Fred Meyer on Saturday. On sale. $14 + tax/ 4pack. Marked down from $20/4pack.

In an odd coincidence, an hour after I bought them, a friend texted me that he was seeing it at the Ferndale Haggen for $22.50/4pack.

IMHO, $5/pint is draft, at the bar price.

    Imagine our surprise...

So, I'm confused, the answer to the question of whether there was enough is a passive-aggressive "yes"? A beer you had no intention of finding is still available, a few weeks after Bellingham Beer Week, at chain grocery stores in Whatcom County, and, in the case of one of them, priced to move? Sounds like they really stiffed you again... (yes, a double eye-roll)

As for the apparent gripe about pricing, it's at least worth considering that was the stores' mark-up, not Fremont's. I mean, if you wanted to be fair-minded, assuming that's something you're into. In any case, imperials with a healthy amount of adjuncts tend to be costly. But, again, just trying to be even-handed. My apologies for enunciating a different point of view, since I know they are not always welcome here...

    ?

Me? No. I am assertive-aggressive, nothing passive about me. Since my answer wasn't clear enough for you, here ya go: It was 2 weeks after BBW ended before I saw the beer, and then it was because I asked all my friends to keep an eye out for it for me. It's not like the town was flooded with the stuff.

And, no, that was not an "apparent" gripe about the cost, it was an outright complaint. maybe you are happy with the equivalent of a $20+ growler, but I certainly wasn't. Any more bitchy questions?

I like the assertive aggressive style  So much more my style, with a smile.

We sent a lot of beer to BBW and it was definitely around town, but don't get me started on distributing politics....if we or any craft brewery could have more control over that it would be a different world.

Pricing is a longer conversation...I think craft breweries are underpaid for our beer and the other two tiers are overpaid for the 60% or more markup that happens before beer hits shelves or draft.

Either way, BBW has come a long way and this crew on this board has a lot to be proud of for helping to foster the community in Bellingham...now, on to helping the Tri-Cities form a tight craft brewery community.

    Passive-aggressive
is lame, but that style is mean.
