I'll probably record it. I like/liked Vice more than Viceland the channel, which I can only handle in small doses (as with most things hipster)

The fact that it's presented by Golden Road is kinda ironic though, considering Vice's social/economical/political viewpoints. Surprised they would do a deal with big brewing.

I saw the episode. Take this with a grain of salt. The things learned was maybe about 2 things educational. The rest is excuse this for lack of a better word, boring. She knocked a guys Pilsner because it wasn't crystal clear. To me, that is an opinion and not 100% style fact. Sixpoint crisp is not crystal clear (a well known pils) and it's perfectly fine and you can't tell me Shane doesn't know what he's doing. And another moment assumed a beer was malty simply because it was dark amber in color. I think that doesn't give correct info for somebody not in the know. It seemed more of a cultural thing which is cool but IMO, yall can watch it and disagree, I found her to be boring as a show host and not very helpful education wise. I'll watch another episode but if it's anything like this past one, I'll pass.

But fuck that's delicious and huangs world are awesome if you're into other cultures and food etc.... I don't watch the 420 shows. Even as a plantgoer myself it gets too much for me.

Don't get me wrong, they have good content and I like the shows you mentioned (and others as well) but it's sorta like candy in that I can only have a little bit here and there. As you said, it gets to be a bit much after a while. Just my 2ยข

I watched, thought it was ok. Nothing special as far as brewing techniques etc. They only showed the one kid with his special hops, all other segments were drinking or going somewhere to drink. It would have been better if each brewer would have went over some steps while making a batch. I will watch it again to see if it gets better, its only like 21 minutes without commercials. About a beers length....

I just got done watching it. It was a bit painful to watch. I am with @Urk1127 in that her evaluations of the two beers were a bit lacking. For the case of the homebrewed Pilsner she knocked for not being brilliantly clear vs. commercial versions. Homebrewers do not generally filter their beers vs. commercial breweries. A pretty stupid comment given the context.

Maybe the next episodes will be better?

    Cheers!

Def agree with the bolded part, it just seemed incredibly forced and awkward to me. Every interaction was clunky and a lot of it felt somewhat scripted. As for the actual homebrewing aspect, I am sure there was a lot more going on that didn't make the cut, but her critiques seemed super out of place and didn't fit in with the rest of the episode at all.

Like the part where she said "hopefully I will get a little Cowboy in me"?

    Cheers!

It's unscripted television. They can't legally call it reality tv unless it's 100% spontaneous.

Let me get this straight, this is the female hipster equivalent of Booze Traveler, except, unlike Jack, she's an A-hole to people?

I'll give it a try but just from the website I think I won't like it. To hell with "don't judge a book by it's cover".

Update: Jesus, she's slurring her words out of the gate at 00:00-00:03

    Yes they can.

You can judge this book by it's cover. She is an unpleasant woman on an unwatchable network. I forgot to include the rolling eyes on my last post. I of course meant the exact 180 degree opposite of that. Cheers!

Update 2: Varg Vikernes is now a cowboy and brewer.

    Update 3: 10:18 -- A-hole mode engaged. Screw a "commercial" pilsener.
I personally find many pilseners too hoppy (and I like IPA's).

Right on. I didn't catch the sarcasm.

Conclusion: I'd hate to work for her and I'm confused whether this is a show about beer or a neo-hipster movement.

Disclaimer: Golden Road Brewing is a subsidiary of ABInBev.

I don't think this show would exist if Golden Road is still independent.
ABIB is paying for Meg's travel, production, etc. Probably paying for Vice's travel too and paying the producers, camera crew, etc.

I thought the show was pretty lousy as well. She meets 3 people and decides that one of them is the best home brewer in the state after drinking one beer? And yeah, she's not cut out for hosting a tv show. Wonder if Brew Dogs will ever be around for a season 4.

Thought this was pretty bad. I agree with many above, interactions were weird. The criticism she gave wasnt great. I think you would get more beer people involved if it wasnt a brewer from a ABInBev brewery but maybe thats just me.

I like Viceland and like a lot of the content they create, but just like the majority of the posts in this thread, I thought this episode was a bit cringe worthy. I was under the impression that this show, or at least this episode, was going to dig deep on the beer culture of the area, highlight local breweries or brewers, etc., I had no clue this was a homebrew competition. And is it me, or is it whenever she talks, she "just can't even."?

My god that show is horrible. Did I miss something or did she not even taste a beer from the last guy? The one living "off the grid'. I can't imagine there could be a show about beer that I wouldn't like, but sadly this show is it......

Can't wait to see tonight's disaster for an episode. I will bring the updates here.

Side note: Every Golden Road beer on BA, RB, and UT has bad ratings. A trifecta, if you will. Meh, hand me a Pabst.
