Let's keep it to the WW event shall we? Half the thread was worthless bitching and moaning about another event.

Don't want this to turn into a thread bashing WW, but Jester King has confirmed they will no longer be attending. I'm concerned others will do the same, I'm wavering on whether I will attend or not.

I would not be surprised if more backed out. I will no longer be attending but wasn't 100% committed prior to the news anyways.

I saw their post about not carrying ww anymore but nothing about not attending the fest

I'm surprised WW announced this prior to their festival. Assume they had a reason to do so, but they had to know at least someone would pull out.

They confirmed it on Facebook in the comment section of their main post about WW.

Great I hope the non Ab Inbev breweries all pull out, just serve bud in place of the breweries that are not attending now

    One would think that either:
1.) They will have to cancel the event or
2.) Drastically lower the price of admission.. Because it was extremely high to begin with, now all these breweries are pulling out.

I wish more breweries would follow suit. This is going to be very interesting to watch. We could see some very definitive lines drawn in the craft beer world. WW had a lot of "friends" in the industry and several breweries are already distancing themselves.

Wow...I was still going to go to the event despite the news. However, this is a big hit and I can only imagine it getting worse. I'm not sure it will be a worthwhile event at all, aside from the WW offerings.

Going to have to agree, at the very least, they can't ask that kind of price.

They should have pulled a CCB and announced the acquisition after their event...derp!

Just wanted to remind everyone that all proceeds from this event go to charity... seems pretty bad to hope that the price (proceeds) drop.

This is no way supporting the acquisition or even commenting on it. Just the event itself.

Yeah I think the places dropping are out acting kinda childish. The event is for charity and the fans who want to try their beer and don't have access to likes of JK. It doesn't hurt WW. Just the fans and the charity.

Wicked Weed has all the money in the world now. They can donate some of it themselves.

But it can hurt the reputation of those coming to the fest, even if only as perceived in those breweries' minds.

Good point, but makes the timing of the announcement even more perplexing...they really couldn't wait two months to spill the beans?

Meh. It wouldn't. Not to an event they had already been planning to go to. They just don't have to do any future non planned stuff.

The timing is quite odd. Surely they knew there would be extreme backlash.

I don't think they cared. Proceeds weren't going into their pocket which is obviously their sole motivation nowadays.

This is why Marketing and Communications consultants who know their $hit make a lot of money. Most of this could have been avoided just by using common sense and announcing after the event for the sake of the charity - profound PR nightmare that could have been avoided!!
