Granted. I guess something like DDG or Atrial is just more rare to me. A lot of breweries bring special stuff, one offs that were never bottled, etc. Though of course others just bring whatever good sour they have so it isn't like its ever been this uber-rare festival, it just tends to have some decently rare stuff at it.

If you still want to try the Angels and Mortes after everything that's gone down, send me a BM. I have a decent amount of each of them except for the most recent vintage except for Golden Angel (which had off-flavor/infection issues). I'm sure we can work something out. Its not like I'll be buying any more Angels or Mortes probably.

To me, Kiwi is by far the worst Morte. It isn't bad, but its acidic as hell (though I'm not certain I've had a kiwi sour that isn't crazy acidic). To me Framboos Morte is probably better than Red Angel, and Red Angel is pretty darn solid.

    Who's the 1 that confirmed?

Kiwi is definitely the worst Morte, but a kiwi sour is pretty much always gonna be worse than a cherry, raspberry, or blackberry one.

If you like Kiwi as a fruit it is pretty good IMO. Framboos>Cerise>La Mure>Kiwi>Perzik...
I for one did not like Perzik as much as most....

I think it's a solid beer, especially compared to some other kiwi sours I've had. But just prefer the others. Although I haven't had perzik, that must have been draft-only.

I have never seen this much solidarity in the craft beer world. I really hope Burial pulls out.

Per Facebook they don't plan to cancel:

As the dust settles on yesterday’s news we would like to address one of our key moments of every year for our company, the Funkatorium Invitational. This festival has always been about bringing all of our friends together that produce the best sour beer and push that style forward in our community.

The Funkatorium Invitational will go on as planned and we look forward to releasing a new brewery list as soon as it is available. We feel confident that this festival will maintain its original vision, celebrating the community and culture of sour beer with family, friends and the the incredible beers they create while raising money to support those less fortunate.

It is important to note that 100% of the profits from this event will be donated to Asheville’s Eblen Charities, a charity in which we firmly believe. Eblen-Kimmel Charities works to assist Asheville’s underprivileged community by providing needs including but not limited to healthcare, energy, emergency assistance, and housing.

Tickets will now go on sale on May 20th. If you have already purchased a ticket from our local ticket sale and you no longer wish to attend, you may return your ticket for a full refund at our Funkatorium location. This decision has been made out of respect for all of our fans and the breweries who have always supported this festival with us.

In the end this is a great festival that supports the community in need, our community of brewers and celebrates our industry. We look forward to celebrating with you in July. Cheers.

That is nice of them to offer refunds since what they will be providing is not remotely close to what those people paid for. Would've been like the Fyre Fest of beer.

Something tells me VIP tickets will be lowered or possibly just scrapped.

It will eventually. ABInbev will have to disclose the transaction amount to their shareholders at some point, as a publicly traded company. It might just be buried in the fine print somewhere a couple months from now.

While I'm sure it is a significant number for the avg person, I don't think it will be material enough for them to have to breakout on their filings. Probably will be lumped into another line item.

You could be right, depending on what they paid. Those materiality rules are pretty vague. They may decide to keep it under wraps if WW doesn't want the number known.

Looks like 27 breweries are out atleast. Just saw Side Project said they were as well.
