    Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a beer fridge, as my beer collection is infringing on my wife's ability to purchase food for us...

Looking for a decent fridge at about the $100-150 price point, willing to pay up to $200 for the right one. No frills, but wife wants stainless or glass door. I just want it to hold plenty of beer and keep it cold. Simple, right?

    Thanks for your expertise!

Stainless or glass door - does that mean it will be out in the open and not hiding away out of sight?

I have a wine fridge that was given to me that holdsaybe 8 bombers lying down, 12 12oz bottles lying down, and maybe 24 or so standing up. It has glass. I put black-out film over it to block the light though since it sits in a room that the light NEVER goes off. That film works great.

Anyway, how much are you looking to hold?

Most people will (rightly so) suggest Craigslist, but you will have a harder time finding stainless or glass door I suspect.

Thanks - Yep I checked Craigslist, and the options are meh. It's going to be in our kitchen, so my wife wants it to blend in. Looking to hold about like 24-36 cans, a couple growlers, some bombers. Probably about the size you have.

I always thought retailers used Ebay as their dumping grounds
    Forget the freezer though...

Obviously I'd prefer no freezer, but if it's there and the price is right, thats ok...

I saw one at Sam's for a "beverage fridge" a couple days ago around $170. Stainless with a glass door. Probably just what you are looking for. 8 think slightly larger than the one I have.

The trick with Craigslist is that you need to be checking it now, in 5 minutes, another 5 after that, and continue.

Okay, maybe not that frequently, but all the remotely good deals go really quickly. There are ways to set alerts through RSS and maybe even IFTTT, but I don't know enough about either of those apps to say help you through that process.

Point being, keep your eye on Craigslist while you research brands! Something good might pop up, especially with it being "spring cleaning" season.

Just buy a full size fridge for like $400. You will have more than enough room and not grow out of it hopefully. And the extra freezer is nice for meat and stuff.

I don't think Inhave seen a full sized fridge meeting his aesthetic requirements in that range. Ever.

Yea I know. I was thinking more of a extra garage fridge. The in house glass door ones don't hold much.

A full size fridge would rock, but we're in a small-ish loft looking to fit this into our small-ish kitchen

Danny wine fridge. I can fit about 15 bombers/750s standing up and another 15 or so laying down on the racks.

The only question with wine fridges is how cold do you want your beer? Lots of wine fridges are designed to only go down to the high 40's. Probably perfect for a lot of beers usually in bombers but might be a bit warm for serving an IPA.

True - mine gets down to 42 at its lowest, but I leave it around 48-50 because I store lambic and gueuze as well.

The eternal struggle for beer served at proper temperatures, lol. Is it better to store some beer warmer than optimal serving temperature and throw it in a colder fridge prior to consumption or store some beer colder than optimal serving temperature and take it out to warm up prior to consumption? If only money were no object and we could have multiple fridges at different temperatures, then again if money were no object I'd probably spend it on the beer.

Always easier to let a cold beer warm up than cool a warm beer IMO.

I try to keep the 20-30 most likely things that I will want to drink in mine at all times for this reason. If I think we'll want something different, I add it spontaneously. Do wish I had a full size to fit everything, but you go with what you got.

Roommate got a wine enthusiast fridge from costco. Not sure how much but it has a glass door. You can rearrange the shelving and could definitely fit 20-30 cans with some bombers and a growler. Ours is usually jam packed. I think the lowest it goes is 40 or 41.
