The 2017 Bourbon County Brand Barleywine Reserve will be a barleywine ale aged for 20 months in 35-year old Heaven Hill barrels. Same 500ml format. Release is assumed to be the usual -- around Black Friday.

Alright, my heart is popping out of my chest and racing 100mph. I'm pumped!

    Wut?

    No...

King Henry was aged in Rare BCBS barrels (i.e. 23 year Pappy Van Winkle) and they've done multiple years of the Barleywine in between.

    Am I missing something?

I guess I kinda assumed that since it's aged in those 35 years HH barrels that it was the barrels previously containing rare 2015 (i.e., kinda like KH).

    Sounds like it!

    I think that's a fair assumption.

AND I'M PUMPED! BARLEYWINE IS LIFE!

Timing makes sense too. If they dumped rare 2015 in Sept 2015 and just went for approval of that new barleywine label this month knowing the barelywine would be dumped this month, that would be 20 months in the barrel.

It's been enough time to let the anger settle and for people to forget/ make up excuses for BCBS.

Rare 2015 was $59.99 on release day, wasn't it? I'd expect this to be the same.

Might sit this one out if it's at Rare prices...just wouldn't be worth it for 500ml imo...

Hope it's not BCBS rare prices. At $60+ I'd rather put that money towards a rare bottle of bourbon.

I agree, hope it's not that price either. I would gladly drop $20 on this, maybe $25, but thats about it. If its not all that "affordable" than I will let others enjoy it. There are some many good/great beers out there, that I am fine with missing some. I hope they atleast still offer the regular BCBW at the 10-12 $ per bottle this year.
