I didn't watch the episode. The trailer "Artsy Brews" was at Meow Wolf. We spent an afternoon there last month, and it was a bit of sensory overload by the time we were done.

I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of the first homebrewer yammering on about how tough the cowboy life is with his personal "completely unnecessary" saloon.

Vice (on Youtube at least) has done a lot of 1-off episodes about weird niches and hobbies that I have really enjoyed.

I feel like they could make a pretty interesting 1off documentary about beer traders and the culture of people waiting in crazy lines for beer and driving all over for trades and then the crazy black market and secondary prices for beer.

    Episode 2: New York

    00:00 -- Neo-hipster movement continues.

    00:00 -- Meg has a mustache.

    01:00 -- Inner city hipsters.

    04:28 -- Meg tells a bad joke.

    05:19 -- Meg checks out a guy's boobs.

    08:09 -- The fist homebrewer is a nihilist-anarchist.

18:18 -- Meg dances with the second homebrewer.

Conclusion: Too much blah blah blah. Meg sounds like her mouth is full of marbles.

I tried watching the NY episode last night and would rather beer bong a six of Crazy Ed's Cave Creek Chili beer than have to sit through another minute of that lame and contrived bullshit. How long until the suits at AB realize one of their *****s...I mean breweries...is on a pro pot network? Not that there's anything wrong with Vice, but I'm pretty sure AB has thrown a lot of cash at stomping out weed.

    From 2015. Didn't she have a co-owner, Tony Yanow?

With about 2 breweries opening per day, one would think there would be a woman owner younger than Meg, even with a co-owner.

...this is sarcasm, right? This has to be sarcasm. There's no way there's still anyone left who doesn't know how fake most "reality" TV is.

I haven't tried any of their beers at this point (though I have noticed that a few have recently started showing up on the shelves of the nearest Kroger -- I guess that must be AB-InBev helping them expand their distribution since I'd never seen them here before) so I can't comment on whether they're actually any good or not, but... since when do 3.7, 3.8, and 3.9 averages count as "bad" ratings?? Pretty sure those are "good" or "very good" according to this site's rating scale.

The 4+ range is supposed to be for beers you'd describe as "outstanding" and "world class" -- it's kind of absurd to lump everything below that range (from the undrinkably awful all the way up to those that only just barely fall short of being among the best) together into "bad." Heck, there are entire styles that only have a few beers with ratings above the 4.0 line, especially if you don't count the ones with only a handful of reviews...

    :grinning:
It has to be completely real. That's the law. Television wouldn't lie to me. Most "reality" tv couldn't be any more fictional if they were fighting with light sabers.

I think it's hard to make a really good television show about beer. Brew Dogs was probably best for natural hosts and production quality. The Beer Hunter was probably best for cool locations and imparting beer knowledge (especially pre-widespread internet). This one I tried to get through the first episode of twice and like 9 or 10 minutes in still hadn't learned anything about beer or any brewers or been entertained by zany antics or funny interactions.

They did play the "I want some cowboy in me" line twice in that time though, which seemed forced the first time. And I got to hear some dude's opinions about how hard the cowboy lifestyle is, though I questioned what he actually does for a living.

I had set the show up to record before I watched it. I'll probably check out one more episode, and if it's not better, I'll go head over to the beer YouTube channels thread.

Okay it was not a good show, but I think some of you are overstating how terrible it is. There's definitely not a lot of information, but this show wasn't made for us.

Heard Meg on a podcast. She's an unpleasant person. Good fit with AB In-Bev. I have no interest in this show.

I get the point that shows like this are meant for a wide audience and you can't look at everything from the perspective of a hard core beer geek. I agree with that completely. That being said, I don't think people are overstating how unwatchable it is. It's simply bad television whether the subject is beer or lawn mowers.

Fake beer journalism. We need somebody like Michael Jackson.

The show really entertains me, I didn't hit the play button expecting to be schooled on craft beer.
