NW bottle share/gathering

    hi all, we just moved back to seattle after a painful 1.5 years in California (kidding, it was great but we did miss home A LOT) and I was wondering whether the NW folks have gotten together for a bottle share or any sort of gathering recently. I've only had the honor of meeting a few of you before and it would be fun to meet more and catch up over beers instead of keyboards. I think a couple years ago there was a bottle share that I couldn't attend, are we due for another? Thoughts?

    I definitely need to soon! It would be great to grab a beer w you and terry. You coming down to seattle anytime soon? Maybe we could try to schedule the bottle share when you happen to be in town?

    sooooo....how is june looking for everyone? @beertunes , @TheBungyo either of you due for a trip to seattle in june? seattle ppl? others? Any ideas for locations? specific dates that do/don't work for people? @distantmantra you want to do a bottle share the weekend before the marathon? weekend after might be better?

    Fathers Day weekend is probably out. I'll have to check out what our summer schedule looks like. Suggestions for a location?

    Is this open to strangers? I've never met you folks, but if scheduling works out, I'd be down to change that. Chances are we've seen each other at festivals, events or breweries at some point anyway.

    Looks like, except for Fathers Day weekend, most of June is open for me. Things change, of course, but yeah, let's pick a date and try to find a location.

    OK @cherche , you got this ball rolling, it's up to you to pick a date, and we'll see how it works for folks. Last time Toronado hosted, don't know if they'd be willing to host again. We had one fall apart that Fremont was willing to host, not sure if they'd be on the table. I'm not super familiar with Seattle, for a thing like this, so any suggestions for a location would be welcome.

    I've heard of some issues lately with bottle shares at Seattle bars being ratted out to the WSLCB. Maybe others have more details. Anyway, that may make places a little gun-shy about hosting such an event.

    What's the sticking point from a legality standpoint?

    To the best of my knowledge, the only requirement here in Oregon is that any outside bottles brought in have to be opened by a facility employee. As long as a bar does that, I don't think the state has any problems with on premise bottle shares.

    That's my understanding as well. I'm not really clear if they "have" to charge a corkage fee, or if they're just "allowed" to. There are different levels of licenses, so maybe the places that got popped didn't have the right license? I dunno.
