We agree to ship Monday and you hadn't shipped as of Thursday. I dont care how much snow you got, you made the obvious decision to wait and see what happened to my box.

You are completely insane. Again, I know @Rlgrigorian isnt going to make this right. And I am glad to add you to the list of people I would never trade with

This is exactly it for me too! Never for a second do I think he meant to do anything intentional. It was a mistake and you have to own up to that.

I agree, for me it has always been a ship by date! I usually give myself a little padding since it is hard for me to get to FedEx. I do everything to get a box out early if I can. Wouldn't everyone rather get their box a day or two early?

I hope that makes you feel even better about me being out the beer and shipping costs. Again, it just comes down to being a decent human being. I am glad everything worked out so well for you

He could have told you, he didn't, pretty sure it was an oversight as he had nothing to gain by the box not making it to him. And it can be argued you unintentionally contributed to this by shipping one day early. And I am sure not every box going through there gets confiscated. Do you even know that is what happened? Make it broke somewhere along the way?

Bottom line is the risk of shipping is always on the shipper, REGARDLESS of the circumstances. You demanding he share the cost of your costs because the box didn't make it, regardless of the circumstances was out of line. It could be argued you are the bad trader because box you sent didn't make it and you refused to make good unless other guy paid.

You should have let this go, losing money on a destroyed box is the cost of business in this game. Instead you are acting like a petulant child.

Also, mods, there is fault for both of these guys, but a bad trader thread isn't deserving for rlgrigorian, maybe move this to the trading help thread and change the title.

Honestly, before the trade even starts, @Rlgrigorian needs to let ALL trading partners know "Not to use FedEx because of a high risk of unrecoverable boxes. (quote from @FFFjunkie)". That's really bad form. Most people, in other states, will not know that real risk.

I am not going to respond to the name calling part because I am bigger than that, I will just clarify since you asked questions.

I said before, the box made it onto the vehicle for delivery and then was marked as damaged and nothing was returned to me. It would be the first time for me that something wasnt returned. But you are correct, we have no way of knowing.

I always accept the cost of doing business when I can see the blame is 100% on me. When it isnt, I have a much harder time.

Since you seem to be fighting so hard against me, don't you think there should be blame on his end for never shipping his box since you think it is so important to stick to the date?

The theme above seems to be obvious...now below needs a little clarification..

@Rlgrigorian The only question I have for clarification is: do you agree to a ship date with all your partners and then wait for your box to arrive safely before you ship out? I'm not trying to "pile on" I'm really trying to understand the thought process....

@Gotti311 did you have an extra Pomm Sauvage to replace the one lost in transit? And if so, did you offer to send this to keep the trade alive?

I realize that a sender is responsible for a box until it arrives safely. But do other people not realize that they are actually dealing with someone else's money?

I mean if I request a trade with someone for the beer (that they bought) and I happen to see that the temperature by me will be negative around the shipping window, you had better believe I would message them immediately to change the shipping date to avoid the greater risk of broken bottles! Or do some people say "F it, it's not my problem if they break before they arrive" ? The same would apply to a notoriously troublesome shipping company or some other stupid reason that could averted with some COMMUNICATION. But I guess that must fall beyond good trader responsibility and into ethics.....

If you read thru, we also got 24-36 inches of snow, shutting down the schools. I was at home with my kids and was not about to drag them out in on shitty roads.

I was wondering the same thing especially when @Rlgrigorian wrote "thanks, is weather looking good on your end? my end isn't too bad this week. should be fine." You didn't mention the bad weather until after the agreed ship date had passed and you received his tracking number.

Oh I guess that got deleted, we got dumped on with snow, otherwise I would've shipped Monday, then when the box wasn't coming, I believe he couldn't replace the bottle and didn't want to ship other things. So, I wasn't sure where I should be at.

Ya, it jumped considerably from 2 inches of snow to 24 and then some places got 36. It originally wasn't suppose to be a big storm.

I can confirm this is true. The forecast for my location said 6 inches and we got 24 followed by snowy mix for the next 2 days.

I still have 1 more Pommier Sauvage. I could show a picture tonight.

My box was not shown as damaged until Thursday. This area is pretty used to getting heavy amounts of snow. I have a hard time believing he wasn't able to ship for 4 days.

If he would have shipped his box I would have absolutely offered to send my second bottle. When he chose to wait to see if my box would get scrapped, I didnt offer to resend another box

According to the BA rules neither of you are bad traders and apparently still have the opportunity to complete the trade as long as @Rlgrigorian still has access to Heady. If he were to ship fresh heady now and you send the pomm replacement this situation would be exactly how a damaged box should be resolved, albeit in a slightly different timeline since he has yet to ship any box. However since it's made it to the bad trader forum I doubt either of you want to continue the trade. If that's the case this thread should probably be closed, but left as a lessen to all about communication. We also are not 100% certain the box was confiscated as it appears inclement weather could have factored as well.

Your story isnt checking out at all. Based on this link, it looks like the storm was set to arrive on Tuesday: http://www.mychamplainvalley.com/ne...-noreaster-arrives-on-tuesday-31217/670696823. I did some research and it looks like the storm may have not come in until Wed, but regardless, everything I saw showed Monday being clear

You stated on Tuesday "I didn't, we had a snow storm jump from 2 inches to 24." You never told me you wouldnt ship on Monday.

Then on Thursday, you respond to the question if you shipped with "I'm waiting to ship, but also because of weather". So what you said was I am waiting [to see if your box makes it], but also because of weather.

And I was wrong, my box was not actually damaged until Friday
