Thank you. The yes or no voting options are just to simply give us a hard line answer. People don't seem to notice the park where I added about what conditions would be needed to sell out. I'm just looking to start a discourse as opposed to people just throwing stones and taking sides. It's nice to hear people say "yes" or "no", but most importantly "why" and think about it in the first person as opposed to the third.

Since none of us own a brewery to sell out, does it matter what we think?

So, you think that people supporting the idea of "selling out" are somehow better at empathy and cognitive reasoning?

Also, if someone has the initial dream of selling their beer from coast to coast, instead of, say, making beer they love in their community, they're pretty much predetermined to sell out.

In the grand scheme of life? No. In a poll where I can reach people all over the world as opposed to my own circle of friends and get broader opinions? Yes.

I own a contract brewing business and a good deal of my own equipment. More often than not, it's the brand that is being bought and not simply the bricks and mortar

OK, Since MOST of us don't own a brewery to sell out, does it matter what we think?

Thanks for the input, but I think most if. not all posters, on this thread understand that when a major buys a micro that the brands sell with the real estate.

Sure. Just pointing out that AB InBev likely doesn't intend to ramp up production just using WW's existing brewhouses. The brand is likely more important to them than the real estate

Well in some of the threads reporting sales of breweries, there seem to be lots of people who don't own breweries but think it matters enough that they feel compelled to criticize the decision and describe the former owners as being traitors to the cause or having no values to live by.

Definitely not, because here's the picture you painted:

I agree but then just as drinking beer and reading a few reviews does not create an experienced reviewer, having participated as a respondent in a few polls does not qualify one to write a poll without bias.

True, especially once they're posted together like that. No bias was intended. Any way to edit it?

I like the general idea here, but there are too many unknown variables in your scenario. If the question pertains solely to the Wicked Weed situation, that's a different story.

Not a this point. You'd have to start from scratch as voting has already occurred and replies have been posted based on your original post.

It's been made apparent to me many times that the wording of the poll is horrible and not very clear. I would edit it, but can't seem to figure that out.

Not specifically WW or any other brewery. This is a hypothetical if YOU had the opportunity to sell out. If so, under what conditions? If not, why?

All of this right here. I would absolutely want to be bought out if I was employed at a brewery where I constantly was on the verge of burning out and where it takes a toll on my personal life because I can hit 40 hours by late Wednesday afternoon.

Well, not being a telepath I'm not qualified to judge someone else's thoughts, especially when since there are examples of brewers having sold at least a partial intrest for similar reasons (acquisition of increased marketing skills, the protection of the future for their original investers and employes who helped them build in the first place)...

A more interesting question, IMO, is, "Would buy good-tasting, affordable beer from a company you believe engages in anti-competitive practices that make it harder for smaller breweries to survive?"

Got it. Well, this is my first poll so bear with me. If there is a next poll, I'll keep it short and concise.

Yes, I do think those folks are better at empathizing, at least when it comes to sell outs. The real key here is that folks need to substantiate their claims. I may not be the best worded, but I'll at least share how I arrived at my conclusion.

Someone can't have a dream of selling world class beer across the country?

Nope. I just can't maths. 22 is the correct number in the poll at the time.
