Not just limited to those groups. You have the manhattanites with all their $$$ flooding the line with postmates (or taking an escalade car service if they want an "experience"), north brooklyn types hauling away cases by the skinny jean load. And don't get me started on the antics of folks from queens or staten island. Or god forbid - the bronx. Being totally objective - only us lot from south brooklyn are truly deserving - I wish OH would find a way to cater to us. Their real fans.

I posted in their thread, and I've heard it a bunch but haven't tried any of their beer. What makes you say they're garbage?

Or at least cater to those of us who don't plan on reselling everything at $10/can.

I think re-selling is overemphasized here as an issue at OH, most often when I see folks walking away with a huge haul or packing a huge haul in the car, it's a bunch of guys who've made the trip for fun and won't be back for some time (license plates are always out of state). I also make it a habit to ask folks who walk out with case on top of case what they're doing with all that beer, and most of the time I've gotten a sheepish response along the lines of "yeah, I'm going to drink these with my buddies, we love OH" or "we have 6 of us and we rotate, it's the only way we can drink OH consistently".

I would take it a step further and restrict all visitors from the known trading states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Also, all buyers should have to open their cell phones to agents monitoring trading activity and reselling. #mohga

Current Other Half administration putting big business interests and foreigners ahead of law-abiding NYers. SAD! #mohga

But.... that won't protect from the known traders living in the notorious trading state of New York or those who don't own cell phones.

So is Long Island basically where most of the bottle shop reselling goes on?

It really is the home-grown traders we need to worry about most. We need to get to the root cause of what is radicalizing these people born here and that are products of the American system.

Last time I went out to Suffolk County to visit my GF's parents on a Saturday, the three bars/shops I visited all had multiple cases of that day's OH can release.

I imagine the same thing happens in New Jersey, as long as you're far enough away from the NYC beer market to not piss anyone off.

I've never seen or heard of stores in NJ that sell OH cans.

I am in NJ a lot and have never seen an Other Half can for sale anywhere. I think the vast majority of the reselling is in Long Island.

Yeah I'm with @bgold86 that the reselling, while I'm sure it happens, is massively overplayed.

I mentioned this in the thread about lines in the main forums (that I think started with that NYT article) - I have a friend who lives out on LI - a few guys from his town go to every OH release, stock up, and then sell to a bunch of guys in the town (who are all friends, or friends of friends etc) at a flat $20/4pack (so basically at cost or a slight premium depending on the beer) - on balance they probably cover their gas and a couple of cans. Is it absolutely kosher in my mind - no. But it's not the mythical evil NJ/LI $10/can reseller either.
