Lol. So it's being a hater to ask a business to stick to principles rather than cashing out?

Wicked Weed was entirely within their right to do that. But it's not being a hater for me to tell them they can fuck right the fuck off for doing so. It's not personal, it's business. And I strongly prefer not to support theirs anymore.

Yeah if you don't like a business then don't support them but stop being an idiot and expecting every business to have your same feelings.

The issue is "asking a business". They never gave a fuck about what you asked them to be. High fives and smiles don't pay the bills or send kids to college or get you the second home in another state.

Most of the craft community is mad because wicked weed was popular and good. It's funny to see to see the backlash that now the beer isn't good anymore due to this crap sell out.

I hear they're going to parade around barrels from the Funkatorium with a team of clydesdales for that event.

When did i say i expect them to have the same feelings? If anything im grateful that theyve shown who they really are and what they really care about. It makes it a lot easier when deciding where to spend my money.

To be fair, most people in the beer community in Asheville were getting pretty tired of most of their stuff. This is admittedly anecdotal, but I've spoken with many people who are friends, brewers, employees at bars/bottle shops around town, and the general consensus was that they hadn't produced a really good new beer in quite some time and stores were having a much harder time moving their product than a year or more ago.

Also, read the last line of this fun, throwback article about WW if you want some more reason why people feel betrayed:

People have been saying their beer is overpriced and adequate for awhile now. Most of the people in the beer industry in Asheville are upset because they have given AB an "in" to the city and market here. It has nothing to do with popularity or quality.

They also had more than enough money to "send kids to college or get you the second home in another state."

But you are right, it is a business, and they are able to do whatever they want.

As a moderator on this board I find it pathetic that you've felt the need to tell others on here whom you disagree with, what to do and how to respond to this situation, and in a way that demeans their intelligence and decisions.

Just because you feel a certain way about WW's decision to sell to AB-InBev does not give you the right to tell others how to feel about it, especially from a position of power.

Get over yourself. Just because I'm a moderator here doesn't preclude me from having an opinion. I'm no more telling people to understand it's a business. It's there to make money, no matter what your feelings are that they lived lavish lifestyles and plump bank accounts, and didn't need this, and needed to be thoughtful and charitable to the masses who adored them for yrs.

I'm mad they sold out- I frequent them when I'm up there at our summer cabin, and I'll still frequent them until the quality goes down or the enjoyment of the pubs deminishes.

They flooded the market and the city with beer. They were successful enough to be annoying. They hated it because everyone in Asheville for beer was directed to wicked weed amongst a short list of must do's.

The brewery only stuff has been fine- the distribution stuff has struggled, imo.

As a consumer, I don't like that they sold to AB-InBev, and I likely won't buy their stuff anymore. But to anyone claiming they wouldn't take a check for $500-700 million to "sell out," well I just straight up don't believe you.

Grow up dude. The post you quoted me on (that was deleted) was childish and immature.

It sucks they sold out but you come off like a 14 year old school girl who was stood up at freshman prom.

    I
I don't know what post you're referring to. I haven't deleted any posts.

I have made my thoughts about WW's decision clear but at no point have I criticized other posters for voicing an opinion that is different than my own.

I would appreciate it if you and others could argue your point/opinion without resorting to name-calling.

I appreciate and support you for having an opinion. That's the great thing about an exchange of ideas, particularly on a topic of interest.

But you've made your opinion known in a way that demeans others and supposes that your opinion is correct and that others are not.

My bad it was the Craig19 or whatever post that was deleted calling them *****s. For that I apologize.

    But...

You said above "it's not personal, it's business". Well that's the opposite of how you're acting. You're taking it very personal.

Oh and welcome to the internet. If you want to voice your opinion and tell the world that WW can "fuck right the fuck off" you open yourself up to others voicing their opening about you and your childish statement.

    Canceled!
    http://www.citizen-times.com/story/...cels-july-funkatorium-invitational/101510748/

"ASHEVILLE - Wicked Weed Brewing has announced it will cancel its July Funkatorium Invitational, previously known as Funk Asheville.

The brewery had planned to host another "reimagined" festival Sept. 16 in its stead, but on Wednesday night told the Citizen-Times they could no longer commit to that date. A new date will be released soon."

I don't believe that I am taking it personally. I haven't referenced any of the WW staff or owners directly. I stand by my opinion that WW can fuck off. I won't be supporting their business anymore because I believe that AB-InBev works hard to crush competition, which leads to less success for craft breweries, which leads to less good beer being produced. If you think that's a childish sentiment for me to say that WW is now part of In-Bev, and thusly, can go fuck themselves, I guess we'll just agree to disagree.

But I appreciate you apologizing for incorrectly addressing a deleted post to me.

Enjoy your Wicked Weed, good sir! I have a feeling the quality will not diminish, and that it will all be easier to come by now, which I would guess will please most WW fans.
