Shiiiit. I was thinking of going around 4 or 5 hopefully there's a lull.

I checked again at 4 pm and it said an hour and 45 minute wait on Twitter.

@masterob8 with huge lines for events, and the marked increase in popularity of the brewery, would you guys consider making future events ticketed?

I didn't go, and couldn't get inside, but I've been there after waiting 20 - 45 minutes, and even when you finally get in, there isn't much room to sit down or hang out. Tickets would also alleviate this I assume.

Quick question from an out-of-towner: will I be able to grab cans when I visit Night Shift? Looks like can options are available based on their website. I just wanted to see if there was a special time/process for those or if it was just first come first served. Thanks in advance.

Nevermind -- explored website a bit more and see cans are available to go during normal hours. If anyone has any other tips they want to share I would appreciate it. Planning on stopping by around 1p this Thursday. Thanks.

If it is still available by Thursday, try a pint of Craigerator II while you're picking out your cans. Tap only, unfortunately, but it is fantastic.

The can/bottle sales are to the left of the bar when you walk in. El Lechador is a yearly release for them and only on tap this year so you might want to try that while you are in. I personally recommend getting a bottle of the Bean Porter to go, that might be my favorite non IPA/PA so far from them. If there's a line (which there shouldn't be at 1 PM) they will let you in for can sales only without waiting in the bar line. The airport is a very short drive from NightShift so if you plan on taking some home on the return flight you can also stop by there on the way. There are back roads from there to the airport as well which a good GPS app should take you if there's traffic. There are other taprooms nearby as well that you can go to, won't list them all here but if you want more info just ask.

Yes, in the future we will consider tickets. We tried to do a ticketed event like this last year and we sold like 50 tickets leading up to the event and then just cancelled the ticket sales and over 1,000 people showed up for the non-ticketed event. Felt like the tickets created a weird barrier to entry even though it went straight to the cost of a beer. So since then we have removed them from our events.

We saw over 3,000 people this Saturday which was amazing to see but waiting in line is never fun. Part of the challenge was the weather - we had approval to increase our capacity as long as people were mostly outside. Since the weather was iffy we needed to stay close to our normal capacity incase it rained and everyone needed to head inside.

We are already discussing how we can improve Saturday's event for the next time. Thanks to all those who came out and enjoyed the day and live music. Fun times.

Curious what you think can be done... People seem to have known about the wait, and you can't increase capacity, and you probably don't want to make people not want to come. Maybe you could make the wait status more obvious on your site and twitter?

Maybe you could add a waitlist app that gives accurate waits and texts people when they're next? Looks like they're pretty cheap--most are under $50/month. That way people don't have to wait in a physical line, but you'd have to figure what to do when someone feels entitled to entrance after arriving 30 minutes after being notified.

We did keep people posted on Twitter about average wait times during the event. But we will look into tickets, increasing capacity, and better more regular updates.

Their Twitter account is good about updating wait times. They even had a video late afternoon to show the hundreds of people waiting, with an estimate of an hour and 45 minutes.

Restaurants have this everywhere by simply texting you. If you show up more than 10 - 15 minutes later, I imagine they simply give your table to the next person. It's on you to show up on time.

Ticketed events with multiple sessions would allow a large amount of people to enjoy each event (like CBC's Pumpkin festival that eventually went ticketed). 3 - 4 hours is a solid time to be at an event, I don't think anyone needs to be there for 12 hours...

The other way I looked at it, is the way I viewed Harpoon fests (I'm a bit too old now, so this was awhile ago). Those grew so popular I knew to get there around 2ish, have a few beers and enjoy the weather outside (if it was nice out), then head home before it turned into one giant line.

Does anyone know off-hand if the OHTT Ella is still from the 03/02 canning run?

I'd love to stock up on that and the Idaho7 but two-plus months would be getting a little long-in-the-tooth for more than a 4-pack if I'm not going to be able to drink it all right away.

I've had more or less most of the Morph's, especially recently, and when I first read this I was thinking, "Hmm, none of them were as good as that Morph last July that made their list last summer..."

Then I looked it up and realized this must be the latest Morph batch, which I don't believe I've had yet. It's also the only Morph I saw listed with an ABV of 4.6%. Time to make a purchase!

This is a much needed purchase too, since I have a litany of IPAs/double IPAs and a KBS in the fridge, so having some 4.6% beers in there will be great.

The Paste article that ranked the Morph at #2 was for batch 48. Not the most current one but still for sale in stores and the taproom. Pretty tasty.

4/20, so I don't believe I've had that one either. I visited the brewery on 4/11 for the Idaho release, that's the last time I was there.

So the ABV is incorrect in the Paste article?

Yeh, looks like it. My guess is they just took the most recent abv instead of the batch they reviewed.

Ah, well I'll be on the lookout for batch #48!

That's not a typo, but if I screw up and get batch #49, that's ok too.

Found a single at a local liquor store...I can confirm, it is indeed tasty, and well deserving of its spot in that blind tasting.

My second favorite Morph yet...and I've had a lot of Morph's. I think I like it better than Whirlpool as a session IPA (and I love Whirlpool).
