I'm a little late posting this, since it starts next Monday. https://www.spokanecraftbeerweek.com/ I've got sufficient irons in the fire that the only beer event I will make it to for certain will be Iron Goat's anniversary party, but there's plenty else going on. Collaboration beers between different Spokane breweries are already turning up a few places. My personal fave so far is the Black Label/Iron Goat Passion Fruit Guava Sour Ale, which drank almost like a gose to me despite it's 7.2% abv.
BBW led straight into SBW, which is leading straight into SCBW. There's gotta be some hurting reps out there. That's a lot of events in a 3 week period.
Well, so far I haven't been able to make it to anything other than Iron Goat's release of their Dry Fly gin barrel aged Head Butt (delicious beer!) last night, but from what I hear SCBW is going well (@Babbo would know more, but he might be getting run ragged with his writing responsibilities). A couple nights ago, Iron Goat completely sold out their Dry Fly Bourbon barrel aged Capt'n. Kidd (a wee heavy) in the course of an evening (so there was none left for me last night), and from what I saw on Untapped, the collaboration festival at No-Li looks to have been a great time. Tonight I'm either heading to Perry St., where they'll be engaged in a "Firk-off" with Fremont, both breweries providing firkins of unreleased, "experimental" beers. I believe there will be some sort of vote at the end of the night to determine who won. Then again, I may wuss out over the whole driving thing and just walk down to Whistle Punk's new taproom, soft-opened last weekend. Saturday will see me hitting Iron Goat's anniversary party, which sounds like a fun time, although weather may keep the patio from functioning as a music venue. All sorts of things are being rumored to appear on their taps.
Stopped brainfarting long enough to remember I can actually go read @Babbo's blog. Here's more info about the firkin throw-down at Perry St: "Perry's offerings are its Tart Saison conditioned on D'Anjou pears and ginger, and its Double Team Supreme collaboration with Trickster's – an imperial New England-style IPA – on Meyer lemons, lemongrass and fruity, experimental "Ron Mexico" hops. Fremont is bringing its Summer Ale on blueberries and cantaloupe, and its new Lush IPA (originally an early spring seasonal that goes year-round next month) on lemongrass, thyme and Citra hops. It also will have a New England-style CItra IPA pouring as a guest tap." Might have to make this.
But the plot thickens! Whistle Punk releases a BBA RIS tonight as well. What to do? I might just lock up due to indecision and wind up staying home.
Didn't make it to Perry St. but did go to Whistle Punk, which was quite busy, and had three different beers that were all excellent, including the RIS which had apparently been brewed a while ago and was quite nicely drinkable. I think WP will be a fine addition to the "brewery district."
