This is sheer crazy talk. I live in Manhattan, and have been going to OH since day 1. My buddy and I were a couple of the few who lined up for the first Red Wine (Vinegar) bottle release, and have been to countless releases since. Just because you live in Brooklyn warrants perks? HA! Would say that is ridiculous, and completely unreasonable. If anything I would say the 5 boroughs, but even then many folks in Nassau/Suffolk are closer than those in the 5 boroughs. Not that it matters because it isn't happening, so won't continue the argument against.

Weekday releases are probably the easiest way to separate the 'locals' from the others if that is the goal. Most people can carve out time to drive in on a Saturday, but almost would never be able to do so during the week for a 5pm release. Way more traffic, they might actually have a job, and parking would be a hell of a lot harder to find. Those close enough to trek in on train/bus could still do so, and reap the benefits of much smaller lines. It should have nothing to do with what borough you live in.

Forgot to mention, if you live in Brooklyn you already have the perks for OH. It's called proximity. You can slide into the taproom during the week to have most everything that is dropped on can release days on draft and for fills, and with little to no line. Most people not in Brooklyn don't have that luxury.

@MakersNeat @JoshVelez if I said that people from Brooklyn deserved complimentary blozzers from the brewery staff would it then be clear I'm joking? I'd love to drag this out but....

If you follow the chain I was teasing a guy who implied that the people buying full allocations were clearly (as if there's any way to tell) from PA / NJ / LI, and that locals deserve special treatment. So I posted a tongue in cheek response that got taken seriously. And then an even more tongue in cheek response to that that also got taken seriously.

    Happy friday fellas!

If we're spitballing perks, I think it's clear what us Brooklynites deserve: drone delivery. Why should we have to huddle with the piss-drunk other borough / PA / NJ / LI masses on a cold, rainy Saturday morning when we should be able to simply reach out and pluck a case or few off the waiting arms of a hovercraft? Time to dream big, folks.

I feel you are selling yourself short on perks. I think locals should have pipelines built directly to home kegerators, paid for by Other Half, that deliver whatever is going to be sold on the following Saturday but that arrive two days earlier.

It's pretty easy to tell if someone's from PA or NJ. Just look at the license plates of any car with bottomed out suspension from hauling 15 cases of beer that rightly belong to me

Is it "National Don't Get Jokes" day or something? Most of the posts on this page are obviously facetious, and so was mine. The only serious part of my post was that you can tell who's from PA/NJ by their license plate.

If you said that, I would not consider that a perk. It was difficult to tell if you were kidding (from scanning the thread), I apologize. It is not out of the realm of possibility some people feel that entitlement.

Drone delivery was mentioned, that exists already and is called task rabbit.

Anyone see last weeks episode of Silicon Valley where the supermarket was completely populated with task rabbits? They all had the same bright green shirt on. I think they should all be forced to wear those if standing in the other half line. Hilarity would ensue.

This line (which I rarely see because I'm too lazy to stand in it) is beginning to sound like a hilarious sitcom. I hope someone from Netflix's development team is reading this.

The show would probably take a bit of a dark/hilarious turn though. People leaving their homes/spouse/kids on a saturday morning, furiously texting ISO/FT while driving to another state to down high alc beers in line next to a highway at 6am. Discuss other hard to get whalez with linemates, do the same mental math you do each week in your head of how many 4 packs of each you shall purchase. Spend about $500 on said beer, eat a mcdonalds egg mcmuffin (and destroy the nasty bathroom), get in the car feeling nice. Get home, crack open one of the 100 beers from the day, pour into a nice fresh proper glassware, check into untappd, say it's amazing but also mention it will be even more amazing in a week after it 'mellows out' (internally realizing it's not actually THAT great, it's just a beer). Then start furiously posting ISO and FT to arrange trades, plan out next can pickup the following weekend, rinse, repeat. Could we make this a full 10 episode season?
