I saw the CASH ONLY sign in the back and said "Yep, Apex". I might actually go Armored Fist since they tend to have it often.

If they let people with dogs in the beer garden I may actually go there more often.

 

If they had more friendly servers and better service, I'd at least think about going more often.

I've never had an issue with the unfriendly/slow service people talk about, do people have a problem walking up to the bar to get their own drink? Even when the place is packed it rarely takes more than a couple minutes.

 

Are you telling me that if I drive down to PDX from Seattle with my dog, I won't be able to bring him with me to Apex?

clearly posted: no dogs, no minors, cash only... and if you climb the fence to gorditos, as many a drunk and mexican food craving patron is want to do, you will be excommunicated... but I love the place, and have always had friendly service too.

 

Fuck it then. I'll just stay in Seattle and have my dog denied entrance at my own hometown establishments.

 

Agreed! I've never had an issue with service or timeliness at Apex. Having just relocated from Chicago, Apex seems to have a reputation a la 3 Floyds - people seem to walk in expecting to get treated like shit and act accordingly. I just don't get it...at both places, the service - in my experience - is efficient and accessible. They won't try to be your friend, but they will pour you a beer when yours is empty...totally aligns with what I'm looking for when I go.

 

I've never had a problem either. Always get beer in a timely manner and am personally unaffected by the "no dogs, no minors, cash only" policies. I even like the music and pinball to boot so it's an all around winner in my book. Easily one of my three favorite bars in Portland.

 

Went with my dog one night ... Only person on the patio. Told me I couldn't have my dog out there and they needed to go. Kinda was like WTF but I still like the place.

 

Vicious dog may attack clientelle! I still kinda like the place too.
