Don't get ahead of yourself. In point of fact, I will no longer even be contributing to it at all. Congratulations, guys. Mission accomplished.

Sorry guys for the food truck question. I did go to the Holy Mountain and Cloudburst websites and saw no food truck mentioned but wanted to be sure. I've been on other brewery sites that did not mention food trucks but they actually had some onsite. I'm diving right into it as soon as my plane lands....thanks for all your help in my planning. I have a solid itinerary planned - in large part to this thread.

My wife is heading to Seattle/Ballard next week and is seeking the one brewery she should visit, since she won't have access to a car. (Although she may Lyft or take the bus.) She's also looking to potentially bring me back some stuff.

Not sure if any of you guys have visited SF, but our favorite brewery is Cellarmaker. Anything in Seattle that has similar kind of style? I looked at some of the websites of the OP, and it looks like Cloudwater may be the closest (ie. newer hop varietals, mix of filtered & unfiltered beers, etc). But that's just based on website, so I'm not sure if there's a better option?

(Note: Although we like NE haze okay, we're not solely about that. Personally, I like in-betweeners.)

No need to apologize. It's a good question. The squabble above ain't nuthin' but a family thing.

If she's going to be in Ballard, she doesn't need to settle on one brewery, even if she doesn't have a car. Stoup and Reuben's are right around the corner from each other and both have decently large taplists with a good amount of variety. She should go to both.

What's the reason why or has Seattle banned food trucks?

I recommend @distantmantra. He knows the Seattle beer scene better than anyone here. :grinning:

I'll be staying near the airport before an early morning flight; any recommendations down that way? I'll be driving down from Whidbey Island so can stop anywhere along I5, although my preference would be closer to the hotel in Des Moines.

Depending on day of week, and specific route, if you drive by Skookum, when they're open, and don't stop in, you will be erring greatly.

The area around the airport sucks. It really does.

Closest options would be Elliot Bay Brewing and Pit Stop in Burien, and Odin Brewing in Tukwila. Maybe Airways in Kent.

Beveridge Place pub in West Seattle is excellent. It's got convenient hours, open from about 2 in the afternoon, IIRC, until late. It's about a 25 minute drive to the airport from there, but you are south of downtown, so there aren't traffic snarls, and it's an easy drive. Check their website, which has an always up-to-date taplist, and you can see if their current offerings appeal to you. Like surprisingly many Seattle breweries and bars, it doesn't have any food, but there are restaurants nearby that will deliver there.

Grabbed a sixer last weekend. Really like it. Seems like it's perched between Field 41 and Topcutter.

Some cities hate them, too. My cousin has had the misfortune to run a foodtruck in one.

Seattle didn't ban food trucks, they just don't allow them to set up shop on a sidewalk or driveway entrance.

A friendly reminder about the Ballard Breweries: While they are very close to each other, please do not carry your open beer from brewery to brewery. Using a brewery's water cup as a to-go container is not allowed.

Thanks for this recommendation. I very much enjoyed my visit to Skookum. 6 IPA's on tap (of which I tried 5 in my flight), plus a good variety of other options. I've already started recommending it to others headed that way.

Visiting Seattle in a couple weeks and this thread has been awesome! Thanks so much for compiling all of this.

Couple quick questions that I didn't see answered (and sorry if I missed).

My wife loves sushi. Being from Central Illinois we rarely get good sushi. Any suggestions for sushi downtown Seattle? We'll be at Cloudburst and Old Stove on a Saturday night.

I'm guessing this is a no, but are there any other breweries/good beer bars by Holy Mountain? Also, anywhere nice to get a quick lunch?

    I appreciate it!

    Cheers
    Jay
