With all the new breweries we have in town and plenty of events going on all the time, I figured we could have an ongoing thread for new releases and such. Hopefully there's enough Tucson BAs to make this work.

Did anyone else get the new cans from Pueblo Vida last week? Both are really good but I'm definitely going back to get more Microburst before it's gone.

Not a Tucson BA, but I was in the Old Pueblo last Monday and picked up 4 pks of 'Andromeda' and 'Microburst' cans from Pueblo Vida Brewing. Haven't cracked them yet. Had 'Microburst' on tap first and thought it was good: citrusy but lacking mouthfeel and a bit thin. I preferred PV's double IPA 'Pillow Fight' on tap and think that would be a winner for a future canning. PV has got it going with their hazy can releases. They have the ability to be the Monkish of the Sonoran Desert.

Since this is a Tucson thread, I'll also mention how much I enjoyed Borderlands 'Starkiller Base' Imperial IPA. This was the haziest, juiciest IPA in town. Draft only. It looked like fresh squeezed orange/pineapple juice with a shot of butternut squash soup added. Borderlands really needs to get that out there.

Great stuff in Tucson. I'm amazed how little hype there is currently on the Tucson craft beer release scene. Compared to the culture in Los Angeles and other major cities, this town is pretty chill (which I enjoy). ☀️

afrokaze...I remember your handle from the early Sante days. I'm going to be in Tucson this weekend into early next week. I take it these cans are gone by now? What else is good around town food or drink wise?

Hey, good to hear from you. I think you might still be able to get some of the Microburst cans at some shops/bars around town, check Hop Shop or Tap & Bottle when you get here. I'm pretty sure they're sold out at the brewery already. As for other recommendations, there's too many to mention here, I'll send you a VM later. Cheers

Hope you guys don't mind some shameless self promotion, but I wanted to share some details for the Dragoon Brewing Co. 5th anniversary party on April 29th. Limited release cans, new merch, live music, a pop-up restaurant and more! Plus a collab beer by yours truly and Pueblo Vida Brewing Company, and four other collabs beers with AZ breweries! You can read the whole thing at http://www.dragoonbrewing.com/anniversary. Hope to see some of you there![IMG]

    Thanks for sharing...that sounds awesome.
Speaking of Pueblo Vida, opened an Andromeda yesterday and it is pretty great. Juicy, hazy galaxy hops with citrus notes and slight bitterness.

Jealous big time. My brother in law is committed to U of A. I have never been to Tucson but going to be a lot of trips in future. I'm starting to do a little research on the scene. Looks great!

So bummed I can't make it down for this. Any chance Reunion Tour / The Seis will make it up to PHX? I assume taproom only -- working on tracking down a mule:slight_smile:

Either way, as it's been a while, thanks again for making all the incredible beer. Dragoon is a class above in the AZ beer scene; you guys are doing it right. Congrats on 5!

Also, btw, Microburst was fantastic. I'm more of a IPA w/ a bite kind of guy, but that beer nailed the soft, fruit juice style. They need to get a bigger canning line and start sending that stuff northward:slight_smile:

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to us, especially as things get bigger and busier around here! I think a small amount of the cans might make it to a few of our favorite local spots, but most likely not to PHX unfortunately. We are trying to do more special releases in the future though, so keep an eye out and I'll be posting here when it happens for sure. If it's like last year's can release, we'll probably have some for sale in the taproom for a week or two after the party so you might still get a chance to get some.

I'm headed to Tucson next week and looking for recommendations on some decent bottle shops. We're flying into Phoenix first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Gonna piggy back on this thread as well. Haven't lived in Tucson for 14 years but make it back every few years, coming into town Memorial Day weekend. Seems like a lot of new stuff has popped up since the last time there.
Looking for any must try beers while I'm in town, either draft or package. Also, bottle shops and bars with good tap lists.
Appreciate any help, really looking forward to being back in the old pueblo.

Pueblo Vida is releasing their Hef and a new batch of Monswoon in cans tomorrow. The new Monswoon with lupulin powder is tasting excellent. Our collab beer, Slow Dance, is on tap at PV too.

We still have cans of Seis and Reunion Tour at Dragoon, as well as on tap. We just released our DIPA Sarcosuchus as well.

@Barstools There are definitely some new breweries and bars to see if you haven't been here lately. 1912, Public Brewhouse, Green Feet, Copper Mine, Dillinger, Crooked Tooth, BlackRock, and The Address have all opened in the last 2 years. Of those, I'd recommend Public and Green Feet. @kenzilka007 For bars, I like Tucson Hop Shop, Tap & Bottle, Ermanos, Arizona Beer House, and Casa Film Bar. They all have nice bottle selections. Plaza Liquors is a great bottleshop, and Whole Foods has a good selection too.

Also meant to mention, try any Tombstone beers you can find on tap around town. Those guys are new and making killer stuff, especially More Hops, their quadruple dry hopped IPA.

I need to head to Tucson..it's been a few years! As an undergrad (graduated 2007), I don't recall everygoing to a small brewery there (was barrio around back then?). The closest I can recall was B.J.'s. Now, there are a ton of new breweries around, and I need to take the 1 1/2 drive from Phoenix again very soon. I'm not quite sure why I haven't.

If anyone is interested, Dragoon has a job opening for a packaging person. It's a greater way to get into the beer industry, plus you'll get to work with some great people. More info here: http://www.dragoonbrewing.com/open-position

Tucsonan here. I love the beer scene here and my favorites are Dragoon, Borderlands and PV but 1912 is killing it too. Hoping more stuff comes in cans since I don't get out often and its way easier to stop by Plaza or Total Wine or AZBH to get some more.

Cans of 'Sitting in a Tin Can', a New England-style DIPA with Citra, Amarillo, Mosaic, and Enigma hops at Borderlands today. Get it.
