    Thanks for the suggestions.

We will be staying in the Alexandria/Old Town area. We will be spending lots of time around the mall/capitol/white house area.

Couple of good spots where you can eat with the family in Old Town is Pizzeria Paradiso and Lost Dog. Great beer selections and very casual for families.

You will be close to Port City at night time and they usually have food trucks on weekends. If you are near the Capitol, look up Schneider's for a good selection of beers. ChurchKey is about a 15-20 minute walk from the White House, if you end your touring there and looking for something to do.

What's the Singlecut can situation in DC right now?

There might still be some DDH Workers Going Home around, but I can't personally vouch for any stores that actually have it. CBC had a whole bunch left on Saturday, but that was the last time I was in there. Don't believe anything new has come in.

D'vines had singles of DDH Workers on Sunday and growlers of Is this the Real Life. Workers was significantly better.

If you're staying near the King St Metro side of old town, the Whole Foods there has a decent selection from which to grab some hotel beers. However, DC's import laws make it easier to get cool stuff that VA does not. Good beer restaurants in Alexandria are Pizzeria Paradiso, Virtue (reasonable list, great location), Rustico and Evening Star Cafe.
If you're planning a long day walking the national mall, be sure to have everyone eat ahead of time and wear proper shoes for distance. Outside of the food truck lines that cross 14th St, its a food wasteland. If someone decides they're hungry at the Lincoln Memorial, you're gonna have a bad time. Once youre done touring, some of my favorite spots are The Partisan, ChurchKey, BierBaron. The 7th St strip by the Verizon center has a ton of restaurants and bars, and 14th St between N and U is a good time.
Metro accessible breweries are BlueJacket (near the baseball park) and Right Proper (7th and T NW).

Has anyone had a chance to try some of this Two Roads stuff? I'm curious how this brewery is. Also kind of surprised to see so many breweries expanding their distro to DC. I understand there's a large beer drinking population, but given our draft options and a burgeoning list of bottle/can options it seems a bit of a bold move.

I've had some of their stuff when traveling up north. It's ok, but nothing that stood out. Haven't had any of the special release stuff though. However, I do welcome the Ol' Factory Pils. There are too many average IPA's on the shelf's nowadays, and not enough Pilseners IMO.

I really like their Ol' Factory Pils, so was happy to find a six-pack of that yesterday. But yeah, so many beer options at stores in DC these days that you wonder how it will work out for all these new breweries entering the market.

Total market oversaturation. Just gonna lead to a bunch of beer going bad on shelves.

How does their pils compare to Prima, Pivo, and Hardywood Pils? I love a great pils but it can be a gamble.

I thought it was a solid. It's a good representation of the style. Prima is a lot better though, but I'm pretty biased towards that Pils. It's one of my all time favorite beers.

This! They were doing a tasting at CBC last night, and I tried a few of their IPAs and the pilsner. The IPAs were fine, nothing special, but the pilsner was excellent! I immediately grabbed a six-pack. One of the best I've had from an American brewery, and more traditional than a lot of the hopped-up pilsners we often see.

I work over at the Navy Yard and was wondering if Harrys Reserve is worth the walk. I live in Virginia and normally shop at Total Wine but wasn't sure if Harrys has a better selection of stuff Total Wine might not carry.
