Took my alottment back to the hotel immediately. Considering how drunk I was at the end this was the best decision I made all weekend.

 

I need to stop looking at the ISO: militia threads or I'm gonna get tempted out of it. Damn whichever one of you mentioned the trade threads on here.

 

The trade threads are toxic!! My group traded away all our duplicate variants for other whale stouts.

 

We definitely hung out with y'all yesterday. We hardly got any pictures either. Unbelievable considering everyone has a damn camera on them.

Anyways, I was guy who had to take a timeout and pull up some pavement and eat a PB sammich.






Guy in white shirt is username 'prg'. He also bought me a random hamburger when he saw me fading. Good times. Good times.

Anyone drink Zombie vs Unicorn? That beer was stellar and was a perfect, refreshing crusher for High on Fire. I hope that makes its way I to cans and/or bottles.

I am sorry you got vintage and didn't want and yes I probably would have been unhappy if I got them too, but none of us have any idea what it takes to put on a festival like this. Calling them greedy because they sold a few hundred extra tickets is a bit much. I mean maybe they had already made so much Dark Lord and actually wanted to sell it is, is that greedy or just good business. Hopefully next year they have enough variants or maybe there was an issue this year that was not released. It was a great run fest yesterday and just try to enjoy how great it was. If it was that miserable then just don't come back next year.

 

My wife and I each got a cup of it on our first trip to the taps, I gave myself a pour in my taster and poured the rest of it out to the first guy I saw in a DA shirt. I thought it was good, but honestly not any better than a Zombie Dust and certainly not better than a Ninja vs Unicorn.

By the way, next years DLD homebrew should be an IIPA.... Dragon Abortion vs Unicorn Contraception.

 

Oh I almost forgot about the Dragon Abortion pour you gave us!

 

But it is...Dark Lord Day. And each attendee spends almost half the ticket price on the stout. Not sure why one would want to attend in the first place if they felt so strongly against the beer.

Only saw DA shirts while in line. Loved the great weather and the more organized event. Had a few DLD miracles! Thanks again for all the random pours and I hope you all appreciated mine!

I remember us all asking if anyone saw @ChiCubs78 but none of us did that I know of.

We got to try Chemtrail and it was actually really tasty, I'd be happy if I got it as a variant.

Awesome weather, came home with a sunburn but don't care. Saw very few people with vintages that didn't want them, but tons and tons of people with one of the vanillas. Seriously the fest was majorly improved and they obviously upped the vanilla and major props to them. 2 FVM for us, in Group E!!! So awesome!

Found Biggleswade, thought it was much better than Temeculan, but...glad there was no bottled cardamom variant this year!

I did a few laps around the fest asking who got a regular bourbon, and seriously only ran into two people that said they did, and one of them wasn't even certain. It got to the point where I started thinking maybe that was the variant that might have had to be sacrificed...? But like you said some of the others still used bourbon as well...

That's....really strange and dickish for sure. Before entering I was at a share with some people on the North side and saw an empty Assassin on a truck. Picked it up to get the last drop and a guy behind me said, "hey, you want some?" Out of his own glass, the guy that brought it. Super awesome--so many great shares this year!

Not quite, but one of the people I hang with every year had a Muerte that was bubbling up and leaking out of the wax, she went up into the brewery and swapped out for the same thing...hopefully it was just a one-off.

IMO that's a bad deal, you can trade a Handjee for beers that are worth that much or more, and are way harder to obtain than $400. I'd rather drink it. I've only had 8ounces of one once, and probably never will again in my life. Bet you made that guy real happy though!

I actually did get a pour of it when Amon Amarth was playing, and I agree, it was delicious!

 

Because it's fun as hell! Im just being grumpy but If you can't seem to make enough varients, go back to general admission.

 

Oh geez as I am going thru this thread I am starting to piece back the people I meet from BA at DLD yday and awesome sharing beers with ya. I think I recall asking each person their BA names and sharing a beer so here goes, bugsmcl, coel, prg, croush, kdwagmoney, eifster (you the guy pouring out SP blackberry du pays in the assassin shirt). I was the dude in orange and rainbow hat (we bought them since we were convinced it would rain this year and easier to spot each other) I was pouring out lot of florida stuff, Funky Budda and Huna. Cheers it was a great time.

 

Saw some dude go to pickup his allotment. The lady handed him a bag with four green and 1 blue and 1 maroon bottles in the bag. He handed it back to to worker and asked for a five bottle bag. She looked pissed, took the bag back. Saw her grab another bag and push over the two vintages and handed it to the guy. The guy left all happy thinking he got a variant. Saw him just outside where he reached in and found the two vintages and was yelling and swearing. Some of those workers were really messing with folks!

 

Also, just want to say, that this years base dark lord is the best it's ever been.

It tastes every bit of 15%, but it's really good, and a marked improvement. Next years vsriants should be awesome.

 

Yeah, I think the only improvement they really need from this year is to have all variants next year. I'm a subscriber to the theory that something happened to one of the variants this year to create the shortage. In any event, I think they fix this next year.
