Darklord Day 2017

I think you guys gave me your 17 DLD pour and told me to just share is with others. Thanks! I did just a you asked!

 

I must do a quick food review from this year. Before I do I must say that never once throughout the entire day did I have to wait for food, at all. The wife and I made three stops between 10am and 4pm.
The Cheeseburger - FFF took last year's burger and amped it up adding BBQ pulled pork and ranch dressing. Good stuff.
Cheddar sausage - Tasty cheddar filled sausage link topped with sauteed onions.
Tacos - Smoked shredded brisket with jalapeno sour cream, pickled radishes, cilantro, and queso fresco. These bad boys were mouth watering. The pickled radishes balanced everything out well.
And my personal favorite food item of the day....
The Fried Chicken Sandwich - Buttermilk fried chicken with coleslaw, pickles, brioche bun, and topped with Zombie Dust cheese sauce. So damn good.

 

I was about to say the same thing!

 

This was my 2nd Dark Lord Day and it was a blast again. I think they did a great job improving upon last year. Being from Cleveland who was flying solo. I was impressed with how friendly everyone was and enjoyed chatting all of you up. Plus, it didn't hurt that I got the Handjee variant.

Got lucky as I was in the Ronaldo tap line when it was replaced by Chemtrail. That beer was amazing. Hopefully they reproduce it again next year.

Nice meeting a lot of you guys at the knoll. I stopped by for about 15 min. I had the last buffalo. Whoever had the monkish, it was very appreciated. The Abraxas too. I'll never turn that beer down.

 

I want one NOW!

Damn, just realized how much I ate at DLD. I also had a steak, egg, and cheese bagel with DL hot sauce on the way in line (courtesy of the Breakfast Club peeps). I attribute this as the reason I had no more than a nice buzz all day. That and quite a bit of water.

 

I had a great time this year but my screaming sunburn says it misses the cold and rain.
My highlights
1. waiting to get, in the group behind me opened a bottle logic space trace, knowing what it was I did ask for a smaller then normal pour. Great guy hope he's a BA thanks!!
2. In the group A line the guy in front of us opened a Goose Island Rare and the 2 guys behind us opened Bottle Logic Ground State. Thanks guys!
3. After dropping off our allotment in the car got back in line only to see the same 2 guys that opened the Ground State behind us again. We say hi and they pull Reaction State to share. Cool people!!

Only improvement
It seems like the variants needed to be mixed up more within each group. My 2 friends in group B got FVM, my 2 friends in group D got Muerte and our friends in group E chem trailmix.

 

I couldn't believe how fast the DLD shirts sold out this year. This is the first year I didn't get one. Stopped by the merch tent around 2pm and only small size was available.

 

After Group A I checked with all of the A's that I knew & were around my area & the count was:
Handjee - 1
FVM - 1
ChemtrailMix - 1
BBDL - 2
Dia Oscuro - 1

I will say that the 2 BBDL was a boyfriend/girlfriend that grabbed 2 totes in a row whereas the Handjee/FVM were 2 people that also grabbed 2 totes in a row so I have no clue how they randomized them

 

This was probably my favorite DLD of the last 4 years. The weather was awesome, but mostly it was the people that made the festival. I met some amazing BA people during the meetup on the grassy knoll. Those Dragon Abortion shirts came in handy!! No I don't exactly remember names either. I was the girl in the taco cat shirt and my husband was wearing the bourbon county shirt and neon green hat.

You all were amazing and generous with your shares and conversation. Where else can you share amazing beers and pictures of your kids? I got to try Trillium, Sip of Sunshine, Last Buffalo, Dragon Abortion, the list goes on and on. Every time you turned around someone else wanted to pour you a beer.

That festival helped me realize was a generous and friendly community this place is.

Worst part of my Saturday was explaining to my rain boots why they didn't get to go to DLD this year....just heartbreaking...

 

Had the cheeseburger, which was great, but damn did I miss out on the really good stuff. Anyone try the Dark Lord Ice Cream this year? I think I saw it at the tent in the brewpub lot...

 

I had these and they were awesome. I've had the spicy chicken at the pub before (if it's the same thing they've had on the menu), and it was awesome too. They seem to knock food out of the park.

 

The ice cream was on the bread pudding and it was so delicious. I could have eaten it all day. Wife and I split one. It was great.

 

The trade board for Chem is insane! I think I just saw a guy offer up his wife.

 

Most of the time it's a wife for a handjee, right?
