I'm surprised no one has posted about this by now so I guess I will, http://www.washingtonbeerblog.com/in-memoriam-curt-plants-goodlife-brewing/
My bad. Curt wasn't a super public figure, so I kinda assumed it wouldn't be that relevant outside of Central Oregon, but it was a very sudden loss to our brewing community.
This Saturday, a celebration of life will be held at Mountain View High School at 11am and continue at GoodLife afterward. We've also dedicated this year's COBW to Curt, who embodied the best of our beer culture and scene: camaraderie and inclusion wrapped in a big booming laugh.
Very sad news about Curt. This is the second talented young brewer that we have lost in the Northwest this year. Ben Flerchinger passed away in March. He was one of the "Bens" from the Ben Fests in Portland. I think he had brewed at 54-40, Lucky Lab, Gigantic...maybe others. Condolences to both of their families.
Fantastic turnout yesterday at GoodLife. The Central Oregon Beer Angels and other volunteers staffed the bierhall and backyard so GL employees could attend the celebration. it's gonna take time for Ty and the rest of GoodLife to heal, but yesterday felt like a good early step.
I really wish I had some solid, personal, deep thing to say here. I don't. I hope everyone had a time, and I hope Curt's memory lives long. My best thoights go to his family, and friends.
