Interesting. How so? Haven't popped one yet.

The draft had better carb and was less sweet, or at least my slightly drunk pallet thought so.

While I thought 2017 was way better on tap than 2016 I think you're all crazy when you're saying 2017 isn't as sweet as usual. I found it sweeter than most of the recent batches; I'm however far more OK with sweet beers than most people.

I expect I will finish the bottle though. Might have a sour between pours, might not. Manning the grill.

We needed that Untappd rant to get to 200!

I use it, but I don't pay much attention to ratings other than for entertainment purposes. I like it because it's quick and I don't have to do a full review or figure out the specific ratings if I'm out.

Also, I'm weird. I only check-in a beer once because I don't really get the point of repeats unless there's a reason for my ratings change. Similar with vintages, unless I notice that I like it way better with age/fresh or it's different every year, I only do the main one. I also try not to check it in unless I get at least a solid tasting pour (4 or 5 ounces), so I only had one check-in at Dark Lord Day.

Also, after reading about how good this Dark Lord is, I think I need to share one with some friends Memorial Day Weekend. Or maybe even a variant.

Changing horses mid race, I wouldn't mind to see a bit more of a security presence at different points in the fest, not just in the warehouse where we get the bottles. My fiancee went to go piss and she came back telling me some dude was getting way too chummy with her, going so far as to have his arm around her neck and have it morph into a quasi-headlock. Sure, some good souls could've helped an uncomfortable woman, but I would love to see posters with a "Feeling uncomfortable? Text "help" to 21919 with a description of what you're wearing and draft tent number if you feel something bad is about to go down.

wpuldnt it be cheaper and easier to have a security guard escort assigned to each of the four women there?

If anyone wants to do a bottle share in Chicago with variants, I will bring my Handjee and my friend will bring his Muerte.

    I don't really cellar anything.

So this was my first year at Dark Lord Day and I was freaking out beforehand because of what all gets said on here, but it was something I am easily going back to. I don't even think I will be in the States for it next year and I have every intention of flying back. Between getting to try beers I probably never would have had otherwise and drinking awesome taps all day I must say it was the most fun I have had at a festival-like event. Me and my two friends got 2 FVM and 1 Chemtrailmix but easily would not have cared if we received vintages considering we never had any of the years prior. Now, next year I will probably be dreading getting vintage. And were the taps better this year? I remember someone complaining of having to walk through the minefield of yum yum stands when they had the voucher system, but I don't think I even saw that on tap this time. Also, did they get new tote bags? Everyone on here warned about them breaking but it seemed as if this year a ton of people had faith in them.

Cleveland area. Had a Chemtrail too but I traded it for BAA since I had Chemtrail on tap and never had BAA.

If anyone near the Cincy area wants to get together for a variant share let me know. I have FVM and BBA.

Glad you had an awesome time. If it was like this every year you couldn't keep people away.

Taps were somewhat better this year since there were some variant and vintage DLs, and guest taps turned over a little quicker, probably cuz more people were out and not hiding in the tent b/c rain (at least that's the theory). But there were some things that didn't go, like the ZD at the guest taps. And I see why you should have it, so far out-of-towners and craft newbs can get some, but it has seemed like there's been too much of it around at most taps in recent years, which is what we're complaining about, cuz we (locals and DLD vets) can get that most anytime and we really don't want that on DLD.

Totes seemed ok but I still saw a few casualties. I was (half-drunkenly) yelling at people not to trust them as I walked out of the fest on my way to the car clutching my bottles to my chest. NEVER TRUST THE TOTES!

Earlier I was packing a beer trade (homebrewtalk fellowship of the drink) and decided to wrap a dl in the tote bag..... the damned bag got 5 beers back to the hotel, but fell apart when being used as packing material.

So to recap, tote falls apart in rain and disintegrates from sunlight exposure. Probably poses a suffocation hazard too.:astonished:

Gonna need a different shirt next year.
