New Belgium Dayblazer

 

I was shocked when I saw this at Casanova Liquor in Hudson this morning. I had no idea Pitchfork started canning. Of course I had to get it.

I've been wanting to try this ever since I saw it on their FB page, but didn't think I'd be able to get it because of my work schedule. Well, sadly, it is a bit of a let down. It's good, but based on the look, and aroma, I thought it would be packed with more flavor. Oh, well, glad I got the chance to try it, and add it to the BA system.

This pours a very murky dark golden color. The head was white, 2 finger, frothy, and dissipated quickly.
The nose is very rich with the standard wheat aroma. Banana, cloves.
The taste is somewhat more bland than the nose lets on. There's the hefe flavors, but very muted.
It feels fairly standard for the style, not very watery.
Overall not bad, but the taste leaves something to be desired, and was a let down from the look and aroma.

We might hang out in Stoughton for a while this weekend. I celebrate by drinking, not by running though. I think it's also about time for someone in my family to start soaking fish in poison to get ready for Christmas.

 

I've had a few different copies of this album, I like this one, not too bad. Now a days it's pretty easy to keep vinyl pretty clean, a VPI 16.5 will do the trick.
