Good morning BAs! Well, it's raining here in Frankenmuth, MI, as I mentally prepare for my first shift at the World Expo of Beer. Today's New Breakfast Beer is good. It's also the first beer I've been able to rate with a positive rDev in a while. After drinking some of @JackHorzempa's excellent homebrew pilsners, I was looking forward to trying to trying this. It's good, but I wouldn't call it a pilsner:

 

The day started with the Mrs knocking over the recycling bin with the car, sending a good portion of the garbage inside into the street. Then, while taking more recycling out, I hear the four year old screaming bloody murder while sitting in bed, which wakes up her now cranky brother.
Founders, take me away!

Taking a moment to escape the madness of the world to enjoy a fine beer and the sounds of nature. I'm starting to detect a shift from the prominent coffee to more barrel revealing heavy oak.

Ah, yes . . .



Light gold leaning toward the yellow part of the spectrum. Very clear, light white head and good lacing.

Clean light malt aroma with a sense of honeyed sweetness. Floral, spicy hops sing out.

I get a fuller flavored sweet malt with hops riding on top like icing on a cake. Rich malt on entry the flavor being more prominent than hops but not by much. Noble hops with their spicy floralness are along for the full ride. Finish is clean with a charming hop presence in the aftertaste.

A bit fuller and heavier than Euro pilsners. Sort of a New World beefier version of the original Czech model. Is this the real deal, a true Pilsner style? Well, it'll do till something better comes along.
