    It's worth saying twice . . .

Beautiful rich golden color with thick white cap and lasting lacing.

Taste is malt forward with hops in the background like the spices in a complex dish. The beer doesn't appear to be especially complex, I only get malt richness and hop spiciness, and it doesn't have quite the sophistication of the German original, yet it brings more than drinkability to the table. Finishes clean with spicy maltiness lingering in the aftertaste.

So it's not a bellwether. At 5% ABV and 20 IBU it's not going to be striking in those directions but that's not what I'm looking for in a Helles. Rather I'm looking for what I got which is a malty lager with more oomph than sass. Food beer, company beer, anytime you want a beer kinda beer. Light enough for a cream sauced casserole and heavy enough to stand up to barbecue. I can find lots of used for this one.

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Another normal day for me. Bottle returns, laundry, and a few other errands. Some strong storms rolled in last night, and apparently more are coming into the afternoon as well. Woke up earlier than usual, and played some Red Orchestra 2 FPS on Steam. High level of realism in that game with the mechanics. A lot more difficult than I expected, even on "Normal" difficulty. Maybe I just suck at FPS now.

Incredible as always. Flavors of mango, melon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, guava, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey and spicy rye bread malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied with balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resin/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Very mildly warming ABV, dangerously smooth. We are finally getting Born Again Yesterday this week, after waiting for like 1-2 months since release. We always seem to get late shipments of Lagunitas for some reason. I am buying a full 12 pack for sure. Mosaic and Equinox hops are the best. Waldos and Born Yesterday have nearly identical hop bills.

Always amazing, this is my favorite shelf BBA stout of all time. Just got more last weekend. Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, molasses, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, light licorice/raisin, and light smoke/char. Balanced bittersweet roast/char finish with some spicy bourbon/oak against sweetness. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied creamy/silky rich mouthfeel. Very smooth sipping, lightly warming. This and Wulver are always in my cellar stock now, despite the price. Worth it for me though.

2015 is tasting insane as usual. Huge flavors of caramel, raisin, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with light notes of molasses, vanilla, and coconut. Light balancing bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish against the sweetness. Minimal warming ABV or barrel booziness. Very smooth sipping; with a very creamy, silky, and slightly slick/syrupy full body mouthfeel. Touch of drying bourbon/oak tannins. Love this the most after at least 1 year of age, to smooth out the boozy barrel notes. Perfectly balanced. Grabbed 2 more packs of 2015 off the shelf only a few months ago. Love that just sits on the shelf, one of my favorite cellar beers ever. Got a single of Cinnsanity last weekend to review soon. English barleywines are my #1 style.

Absolutely insane coffee stout. Flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark bread, and smoke; with some herbal/woody/spicy hops and light charcoal/dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced roast/char/hop finish. Full bodied creamy/silky/velvety mouthfeel; light chalky roast and sticky hops. Lightly increasing roast/char dryness. Super smooth, minimal warming ABV. Insanely complex and well balanced. Have been enjoying this often with the smaller format. World class beer. Looking forward to the day when everything is in cans. Increases every year.

I think I've got the same issue between my phone vs my tablet. The phone is 4 years old, and the pics from the camera are horrible compared to the tablet. That's why I switched. Plus the tablet is a lot faster, since it's newer and more computing power.

Good morning, all! Strange meteorological phenomenon in the Cedar Valley this morning. There is a large yellowish-orange orb suspended in the sky, and it seems to be giving off some sort of radiation. I wouldn't want to be caught dead with any unopened KBS, so I'd better get busy.

    Good Morning BA
I'm done with nightshifts and ready for a drink. I would like to thank yesterday's WBAYDN crowd for the entertainment last night on a unusually slow night shift.

Cross post from NBS. Good Indiana dubbel. It might struggle a bit in international competition, but, in all fairness, the monks have been practicing for a few hundred years. Enjoy your Sunday BA!

Celebratory beers as my son gets his Masters Degree in an hour or so. However, these are recycled photos as we are drinking these fine beers NOW out of red solo cups standing around the parking lot. Cheers and congrats!

Onto some Empyrean peanut butter porter before the match starts. Pretty good beer if you like peanut butter. Could review this on NBS but I'll save my nitro stout for that.
