Great head retention but I think this needs another week in the bottle.

 

First time with this one and it's massive coffee for sure! And keeping with the Founders and coffee theme there seems to be in previous posts!

Founders - Sumatra Mountain Brown

Would love to see a barrel aged of this bottled.

A morning run at the crack of dawn, a trip to the vet with the old mutt for her yearly shots and a stop at the local liquor store have me thirsting for a beer. I've been saving this bottle brought home from Colorado last fall and with nothing else on my schedule except for some lawn mowing I figured it was time to pour this 17.4% fuel. These Avery barrel aged brews are no punks and this is head on bourbon heat! I may be subconsciously trying to forget mowing that lawn later? Have yourselves a great day.

Admittedly the premise is not something that would normally grab my attention but it seemed Summery, so . . .

Light yellow color with white cap and lace.

Aroma has a definite cucumber scent that's present without being intrusive. Other than that I get little more than a pleasant sense of floralness. This was so light I let the brew warm a bit to tease out more layers finding the cucumber becomes sharper and more focused. Remains pleasant.

Taste is of a mild brew that features the cucumber. Very dry and something like a cucumber flavored chamomile tea, if there is such a thing. A focused tartness yet it remains dry throughout. Aftertaste carries a mild malt flavor with slight bitterness which I presume is due to hops.

Light texture and balancing carbonation.

Overall it's sorta interesting. It's not a muddle or a mess, just a pleasant light brew with a refreshing clean taste.

 

Local offering while the fam and I dive into some sushi. Aggressively dry hopped with mosaic. 4.8 percent abv. Very good
