    Hi all,

I vill visit in NY at next September. Most likely from 3th to 9th. I have listed a lot of interested (beer related) places like
The Ginger Man, Rattle 'N' Hum, The Blind Tiger, Proletariat and Pony Bar in New York
Torst, Spuyten Duyvil, Other Half, Barcade, Owl Farm, Mugs Ale House, The Well, Threes in Brooklyn
Alewife Queens, LIC Beer Project, Rockaway, Transmitter and Big Alice in Long Island
    and Finback in Queens.

Are there some gems missing from my list? Any other tips?

I am also interested ip trade. I am for two weeks in New England area before I coming to New York. I can bring for instance several Trillium or Tree House cans, HF bottles or whatever you want (which are available at the time I am there). I think I am most interested hoppy beers from Other Half and Grimm. Pm if interested!

I have been several times in California, but never East Coast. Really looking forward to my trip!

Arts and Craft Beer Parlor on West 8th St. also shouldn't be missed. Haymaker is another one you could add to your list.

Bar Great Harry, Mission Dolores, Double Windsor, Gold Star Beer Counter and Covenhoven are all Brooklyn places I'd throw in as well

Hopefully Grimm's brewery will be completed by September, so obviously that's unmissable. I also recommend SingleCut in Astoria, Queens, which has a cool brewery (tons of board games to play, and sometimes live music).

Would love to trade for Tree House too, I'll PM you.

As Is is the best bar in Manhattan now, especially since Proletariat has kind of gone to the dogs. Definitely a must-hit.

Cory left. Haha. That dude ran a tight ship and was very meticulous, professional, and knowledgeable. Also had great taste in music and was very on point with his service (keeping glasses of water filled, taking your order and serving you swiftly, etc.).

I don't go there much on Mondays which is when, I think, Anthony (?) from Other Half works there, if so, that may be a better day to go. Also, happy to go when Andre from Good Beer (and now Other Half too!) is there. However, the rest of the people I've dealt with there have been very poor with the service, not as knowledgeable, and much more careless about the place.

My most recent visit, half the taplist was empty spaces and I sat with an empty glass for a solid ten minutes and never was offered water. Also, the taplist, which used to always offer unique, rare and so on and thus always had something I could get excited about, was pretty much Dullsville. It seems the curated aspect of Proletariat is not as strong, if not completely gone.

@ONovoMexicano agreed...Andre is a fucking solid dude (his taste in music is excellent as well). Can't really get to Good Beer anymore which really sucks.

Yeah Monday night is the best time to go to Proletariat since Anthony is bartending.

I would agree that As Is NYC is one of the top bars in the city for awesome tap lists/good atmosphere. Arts and Crafts and One Mile House are great too. Fool's Gold (same owners as Alewife/The Jeffrey) can get a little frat bro-ey but you can always count on a great tap list there too. I would skip Blind Tiger unless you go at really off hours.

If you end up going to Greenpoint for Torst, I would add Brouwerij Lane to your list as well. Excellent low-key place with great selection on both draft and in bottles/cans. Put your name on the (usually long) list at Paulie Gee's pizza down the street, and wait it out by grabbing some pre-dinner drinks at Brouwerij Lane a couple doors down. I've been known to stop in for an additional post-dinner drink after too.

LIC Beer Project/SingleCut are must-hits in Astoria.

Why would you skip Torst? I was there in December and it was amazing. Hell that had Wakefeild beers on tap that I cant get in FL. Also have lots of Grimm and other local NY beers. The food was amazing as well.

Because 2 beers and food at Torst will cost you $40 minimum. You'll go broke and not be able to visit the rest of the spots. Hehe

Threes in Brooklyn and Sand City if you do end up going out on Long Island.

I'm surprised no one has said it so far. Interboro is worth stopping by and I prefer them to Singlecut and Finback.

If you are going to venture to Pony Bar on the Upper East Side (the one in Hell's Kitchen is now Hellcat Annie's), you can hit a decent amount of craft beer bars / bottle shops on your way up.

In street order off the top of my head:
    City Hops - 60th and 2nd
    The Jeffrey - 60th between 1st and 2nd
Milk and Hops - 63rd / 64th street and 1st (should be opening soon)
    Pony Bar - 75th and 1st
    Bondurants - 85th off 2nd
    City Swiggers - 86th between 1st and 2nd

Torst can definitely get pricey, which is why when I go to try a variety of beers (after all, it's not a good place to get drunk), I'll go for a 5 oz pour. Doesn't break the bank.

Personally, if you are visiting NYC and you enjoy beer, it's really a can't miss bar. It's nicely designed too.
