Vintage ratings

    This has probably come up in the past, but why doesn't BA have vintage ratings? Granted, I don't conduct reviews or ratings here, but I know just how variable vintages can be from year-to-year. Maybe one of the Bros or someone else can provide a little insight or redirect me to a previous thread?

    It's pretty common (or perhaps more common now) to cite the year of the vintage in the review. This is especially true for beers that are frequently aged (e.g. Cantillon). Apart from that, I would imagine that it would take quite a bit of work to add that feature.

    I feel like more keen BAs will list which vintage they are reviewing. Although none of those ratings are organized, so prepare to do some hardcore skimming.

    There are already a plethora of beer reviews put into the wrong place or added twice (or more). Your suggestion is asking for additional trouble.

    This has been discussed in past, and I agree with the idea that things like what container it came in (for beers with multiple packaging formats) and what vintage the beer is only should be noted in the review.

    This would be a can of worms. Where do you draw the line since you can have variations from batch to batch? Folks would get confused and post their reviews to the wrong one. I support designating a new beer when the brewer announces a major change - but who decides what constitutes major? What if they change, then change back? What if they have multiple breweries and it differs between them?

    It has, and we've given it some consideration over the years, but we don't want to support or encourage the rating of old beer.
