Hoping for distro this time around. Wasn't BAE brewery only release last year?

    Yes, brewery only last year.

If the drop happens at the right time for me I'll probably make the trek up for this. I promise to be on my best behavior despite my IL plates.

I hear IL platers are great sharers with those in Indiana whom cannot make the trip. So glad to have heard that. Makes not making the 8-9 hour round trip that much more palatable.

So, according to the dark lord thread, a brewery only had to get a label approved if they are shipping out of state.

If that's the case, why does bells go through the trouble for something that was brewery only? That was the case last year at least.

I'm No expert, but I would guess it's an Indiana thing. I know Pipeworks also got labels approved for some BA beers even though they're brewery-only right now.

It'll be 7+ for me. Based on your time estimate, you're closer to Jackie O's than me. How's about you go to Athens and get some Appervation? Then we can meet in the middle and swap out. You should start packing. You need to leave bright and early. Tomorrow. Diddly :stuck_out_tongue:

And Goose Island gets the Prop label approved, which never leaves IL. And breweries will sometimes get labels approved that never end up getting bottled...which leads me to wonder if anyone has confirmed with Bell's that this is actually happening? I'm not trying to start a rumor that it ISN'T happening, just wondering if there is anything beyond that very brief article posted above.

Don't ruin this dream for me. I got trade bottles all lined up and everything. I'm swinging for the fences on this one...

Kind of wild guess here. I believe the State of Michigan requires TTB label approval for any product brewed for off-site consumption. That would cover kegs and bottles/cans. Since BBA Expedition is brewed at the Comstock brewery, TTB label approval is needed to be sold at the General Store in Kalamazoo.

    Prop also sees distro.

Any bottles that is not sold on-site (at least in IL) needs label Approval.

So will this get distro in Michigan? Or is this still up in the air?

After reading this, I recalled a conversation with a small local brewer that has limited bottle runs, and did not need TTB label approval as all the sales are from the brewery. Edit - state of MI approval still required.

This line in the regulation allows in state only labels not approved by the TTB.

I would expect brewery only and treat any distro as a gift. A hard to find gift.

Now, if someone could just find a label for BA 30th.

No one has a clue, everything in here is speculation at best

Yeah, I know Prop sees distro...I was adding on as a response to the earlier post about a brewery only needing label approval if a beer sees out of state distro...which Prop does not.

In the end, none of us really know anything about where BBA Expedition will land. It'll most likely show up on tap at Bell's, but we just have to wait and see. If it is produced this year and even put on draft at Bell's, hopefully the timing will work for me to grab some. It's one beer that I would really like to try that has eluded me thus far.
