Anyone looking for a room for FWIBF? I booked two at the Adelaide thinking a friend was coming to meet me and he had to back out for family reasons. Can give up a room and let you take it over. My only requests - room is next to me so no loud sexing and please share epic bottles with me at pre- and post-it beer tastings. Loud beer drinking and beer snoring OK. Message me and I will check msgs tomorrow. First response gets the room.

    No loud sexing? Deal breaker.

Coming solo from NJ for the second time. Staying at the Best Western Black Oak. I'll try to shove as many cans in my luggage as I can. (Carton, Kane, Finback, Other Half bottles.) everyone just usually shares by the pool I'm guessing?

I'm at Marriott Courtyard and I'll be bringing NorCal, Bruery and other goodies.

A lot of people staying at the best western or do I have to crash the Adelaide in poolside bottle share?

    A couple questions:

    - I know that there are private shares around town, but in terms of open ones, is the Adelaide pretty much the most active and best option? What time on Friday do people usually start to get there?

    - I heard that 3 Floyds sometimes pours Dark Lord variants, but that these are unannounced. Is this right? I stopped by their table last year and didn't see any sign of this, but heard later on that they had BVDL at some point.

3 Floyds definitely had Dark Lord variants two years ago. I didn't bother to check last year.

3F had a number of variants last year. They would not post what they had, they just told you what it was when you got to the front of the line. They changed the keg to something else when it ran out. The variants last for a few hours.

Are there any bottle shares at the Oaks? I'm a total noob regarding bottle shares and I would like to try it out. Any advice would be tremendously suggested so I don't embarrass myself too much. :stuck_out_tongue:

In 2015 their listing said BA Dark Lord and they basically rotated through variants the entire event (as one kicked the next went on). Last year I believe they had a bunch of Dark Lord vintages and maybe BA Dark Lord (but not any of the treated ones as far as I know, I skipped it). This year they don't even mention Dark Lord so I'd go into it with low expectations.

Coming in from Chicago with @Vitacca for the first time for both of us. We're staying at the Adelaide and are looking forward to the shares! We're flying in to LAX early Friday morning and then driving up with a stop planned at Buellton. We're going to try to bring as much as we can in checked luggage, though I'm a bit wary of bringing anything too crazy with TSA pilfering and breakage possibilities. Let us know if there's something from the Chicago/WI area that you'd like to try and we'll try to squish it into our bags! Can't wait!

I'm thinking of bringing a couple little LED lanterns for the Adelaide pool area... Dark/blind pours are fun, but not that fun. haha.

I just had Malort for the first time when I was out there for DLD... Dear God, why? Why does that stuff exist?

I approve of this message. Blinded by way too many iPhone flashlights in past shares!

You do realize you're kinda daring me to bring a bottle, being from Chicago and all.

God, if I only had a bottle of Malort barrel aged Dark Lord to bring. A double assault on your tastebuds and humanity. Fortunately, it was draft only, so far anyway. . .
