I am flying up from Atlanta for culmination and didn't see a thread. If anyone can direct me to one I'd appreciate it. Also, I can pack some good beers if anyone wants to share some.

I've been in anchorage for a few weeks, so this is my insight for anchorage only.

    Bottle Shops:
    1. Brown Jug (your local bevmo. Lots of little stores, but the main warehouse on old seward is the best selection)
    2. La Bodega (benson st location)

    Bars:
    Cafe Amsterdam

    Breweries:
    Anchorage Brewing (the best imo)
    Midnight Sun
glacier brewhouse (more for the food than beer)
49th state brewing (great food, decent beers and a killer roof deck)

Might be too late, but the leftover beers from The Culmination hit stores last week. LaBodega, Brown Jug Warehouse, Brown Jug on Old Seward across from Texas Roadhouse, and Gold Rush liquor all have received bottles in the past. Had my sister grab a Jackie O's for me. I remember several beers from Side Project, Sante Adairius, etc. turding it up for months in years past.

No side project this year sadly. Most the wanted beers are gone... but a few stragglers left... aka Jackie O's still sitting

I'll be in Anchorage for a little over a week and based on this thread and additional research I've come up with the following list of places to visit (in no particular order):

Breweries: Midnight Sun, Anchorage, Cynosure, Resolution

    Bottle Shops: Cellar, La Bodega

Food: Moose's Tooth, Humpy's (then Sub Zero), Glacier Brewhouse, Ginger, Marx Brothers and Simon & Seafort.

Anything I should add? I'll also be in Homer and Seward...but I don't know much about those locations. Figure I load up in Anchorage before heading south. Thank you in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

Sub Zero closed a little over a year ago - other than that you're list looks solid. Midnight Sun has awesome food too.

Seward Brewing, Homer Brewing, and Grace Ridge (Homer) are average at best.

If you're driving to Homer, plan to stop at St Elias Brewing in Soldotna. Kenai River Brewing has excellent food and decent beer and is inly about 1 mile from St Elias.

If you see any BA offerings from Glacier Brewhouse during your trip, get a glass.

    Other food suggestions...

Snow City Cafe is a MUST stop for breakfast. I also enjoy Spenard Roadhouse, same owners of Snow City, great food, great drink, pretty good tap selection.

I miss Anchorage, was going there several times a year for many years for work.

They also opened a place in South Anchorage a couple years ago called South. Good food, drinks, and taplist as well.

Depending when you're here Anchorage Ale House might be open. Same owners of Eagle River Alehouse, Palmer City Alehouse, and Matanuska Brewing Co (under construction).

If the 70 taps at the new location are anything like the other locations, it will be worth a trip. Scheduled to open this month at the old Crossbar.

Thank you @unclekeith @walterfredo and @itracy63 for the suggestions! I've been up here for about nine days and hit Simon & Seafort first. Midnight Sun a couple times. St. Elias had a "lambic" that was tasty! Pizza was super good. Also hit Kenai BC and Homer BC. Then Seward BC. All decent. Seward BC had good food. Now back in Anchorage. Went to 49th state last night for a couple - $5 stickers there!! Then Humpy's. Currently at Resolution. Planning on Cynosure and Anchorage next. Moose's Tooth for dinner.

La Bodega was awesome! Snow City was a delish breakfast! All in all a great trip! Thank you again for your suggestions. If there's anything else you can think of please let me know.

Not sure what the best Anchorage thread is but...

Drinking bba darkest hour with coffee right now. Absolutely fantastic. One of the best coffee stouts I've had in quite a while.

sidways endorsement: Met the owner of Darwin's Theory while he was visiting Bend, as were both seated at the bar of one of my regular spots. He seems like good people. Based on that alone I would check out Darwin's Theory. I'll stop in for sure, next time I'm in Anchorage. Cursory look at yelp and tripadvisor indicates a decent selection of beverages.

Darwin's is a good spot for a beer. Nothing outstanding, nothing on draft, but a great atmosphere. It's usually the spot I head for my last beer of the night (and some popcorn)

I love Darwin's Theory! Definitely a bit on the dive-y side, and I mean that in a good way. Staff area generally super friendly. Definitely seems to be a locals favorite.

Yep, 7.0 earthquake, so this is a pretty major hit.

Was in N. California for the 89 Loma Prieta quake and remember well the damage that quake caused. This one looks to be about the same size, so yeah, this is a big one.

Pretty scary event. It really shook things up in Anchorage.... apparently only a few miles North of us. Felt more like an 8 or higher to be honest. We had some overpasses/bridges collapse around town and some fires that look to be caused by the quake. Traffic and transportation is pretty snarled up around the city and on the roads out of town. Been checking on all my friends around town for the last few hours and so far everyone has been okay! The adrenaline has worn off and I’d like to crack a beer, but I’m not so sure we’re in the clear!
