Looks like Darkness day will be at the Brooklyn Center location on October 21st.

Agreed. I think this the first label for both Darkness and the anniversary beers that I actually like.

Add some gold and you'll have the BA Darkness label! Will be interesting to see what difference a new brewmaster makes.

Really? A chicken foot goblet filled with a blood soaked Slushy being drunk by a heinous, sexually ambiguous practitioner of witchcraft? For someone who takes things way too literally, I am shocked by your approval:wink:. Just pulling your chain. Hope no offense.

Lol. I mostly like it, because its clean. Most of the other Darkness/anniversary labels have been really messy as labels. Some have been interesting pieces of art, but difficult to detangle as beers labels.

Was hoping for second weekend of October again. As someone from a more southern climate, it made for a nicer camp.

I know this is a little off topic but I wonder if they will ever start pumping out BA variants. All the cool kids do it, just sayin.....

Tap only, but they had cherry in March. Maybe market testing?

Has there ever been a coffee Darkness? That's a variant I could get behind.

Now that Todd is gone, I'm guessing we will see variants this year. He was the one that was reluctant to even barrel age it.

I hope you're right. I've heard from those close to the matter that Todd was the one "stifling innovation", but the hoped-for explosion (or even whimper) of new beers hasn't been forthcoming yet.

I remember seeing that as well, Happy Gnome I think? That was my immediate thought as well, testing the waters.

A coffee variant would be welcomed indeed.

The new artwork is nice. However, I'd like to see it with a different color scheme. Since 2009 all the logos for Darkness have been done in red, black and white. I can understand 'tradition' and let's stay with it but I find it incredibly played out.

The colors all run together for me and the artwork gets lost in itself. The art looks busy but it's not....(?). When there's so much 'detail' in the art and it's hidden behind a tri color scheme, I don't much bother with the actual art itself.

The two color scheme of red and black (white being the background) is probably dictated by the cost of the screen printing. Adding more colors would be more expensive, and packaging is already one of the biggest expenses in making beer. This is not to say they couldn't use two colors other than red and black, but they do have a reason for minimizing the number of colors they use.

The funny thing about that is that the original darkness is suppose to have dried tart cherries

Curious with Darkness Day approaching and Surly doing bottles on Mondays how are the old Darkness bottles holding up? My dream would be to taste a version of each year since it is still my favorite regular stout. I did manage to get my hands on 12-16 bottles curious what 08-11 would taste like since I know 07 probably will never find.

i won't have much rare at Darkness Day but would trade a sample of something for just a taste of 10-11 for sure!

I know Darkness Day has traditionally been in October, but it would have been cool to have Darkness Day during the August 21st eclipse this year.
