For info directly from their website

Their new online shop is open. Check out their gorgeous glassware and shirts.

Nice pics on their instagram feed: https://www.instagram.com/grimmales/

Grimm beers are usually in high demand (especially the cans). Cans have been limited to low counts per person. Grimm Artisanal Ales supply their beers at low prices (and have NOT raised their prices recently) to the distributor, who supply the retail shops, and therefore are not responsible for the final price you may encounter. They try to support the "Mom and Pop" shops that sell their beer. Hopefully, we should all support these small shops. Also available at select Whole Foods beer departments with limits to spread the wealth among your fellow BA brethren. :sunglasses:

The latest fitness craze has been the checking of this thread and Beermenus for their cans/bottles and running around town trying to get them before inventory is sold out. Needed exercise for some of our fellow beer enthusiasts. :grinning: If you miss out, you can usually find their beer on tap.

Post away and yes, Joe and Lauren (the Grimm's) monitor this thread and are great about responding to your questions and comments. Especially, if you tag them @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales. Great people, great couple, great brewers.

    Artwork

The beautiful Grimm artwork on their labels is designed by Lauren, about 50% from scratch and the rest using Gretta Johnson's (their longtime friend) artwork. Gretta did the artwork for Sugarmaker, In Mid-Air, and Candlepower.

Check out http://grettajohnson.com/ for more about this talented artist.

The artwork on the Splish can is by Joe's old band mate, and incredible artist, Brian Alfred.

The artwork on Lambo Door, Awoogah, Light Year, Skyspace, Lumen, and Blackberry Orange Pop! is by the amazing Lauren Grimm. She can do it all!

The artwork for Sumi Ink label is by Sumi Ink Club (http://sumiinkclub.com/)

Their friend Maggie (Margaux Ogden) did the Zap design (http://www.margauxogden.com/paintings)

    Can advice:

    @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales, good morning!

DDH Tesseract was terrific - glad I was able to find a can (Vintner in Hell's Kitchen...$10/can).

Apologies if this veers off topic, but yesterday you were discussing some of the ways brewers attempt to create haze in their beers. One of the methods, that I interpreted (may have been wrong) as being a bad "shortcut" was biotransformation. I used this approach in my most recent homebrew batch (the BYO Julius clone) and it definitely came out as the best "NE IPA" I've ever attempted (no secondary and a 2nd dryhop in the keg). Was I fooling myself in thinking that my haze was "legitimate" (for lack of a better term)? Was it likely just yeast in suspension?

It went pretty quickly (humble brag), so I don't know if it would've eventually cleared up.

Any tidbits you could offer would be super appreciated, even if it's just to say I'm doing it wrong.

The melon note from the DDH Tesseract, is that from the yeast?

@NewmansOwn -- I couldn't respond since last month's thread is now locked, but it looks like Tørst will have LUX and BA Umbria. I coulda sworn I saw a post a month or two ago on Bissell's IG that they were planning to bring Maple Angels, too

oh no we would never say biotransformation is a bad shortcut! Just that it seems to make some yeast strains a little slower to flocculate, and can also occasionally cause stalled fermentations. So it's not a bad thing to do, but it might make it more likely that your beer isn't ready to package if you're on a very short turnaround time.

we see biotransformation as a trade-off. We seem to gain "juice" at the expense of raw aromatic intensity/dankness when we employ it.

    Great to hear/read!

Interesting what you say about the trade-off. I definitely noticed that my aroma was way below the legends. I'm sure there are quite a few confounding factors contributing to that, however. Definitely something I'll keep in mind going forward, though!

Really appreciate the thoughtful response. What a great community!

One may consider “a bad shortcut,” to hide flaws, inconsistencies, and to cover up improper technique, to be adjuncts (e.g. strawberries, peach, raspberry, vanilla, and creamer), lupulin powder, lactose, etc. Strip that away to discover any issues with filtration, yeast fermentation…

I found Cloudbursting on a Friday, like 4-5 cans where the single cans are and maybe the last batch of Afterimage on similar condition, nothing else..and since I live nearby every time there is a release I stop by.
I asked a few times but I normally get "no" or "some time next week, like wer or fri"... but not too reliable. They seem to have a weird distributing behavior.
they get bottles with more consistency even though, again, in random amounts, you can find a few Psychokinesis on the shelf/fridge or 4 cases of Candlepower on the floor.

    Edit:
But if you are nearby usually City Swiggers has them (1pp) and Noble Grains too (maybe2pp?).Normally they post it on their IG account, around 6.5$

Yes, however they are the last on the delivery route so they have missed out on some releases (not just Grimm) over the course of the year.

The previous beer buyer Ben was super friendly and knew his stuff, but he was moved to a different location a while ago, the quality of beers available has suffered...The non stout/BA stout Grimm bottles seem to stick around as well...
