That's a winner. Come to Portland and I'll buy you a pint for that.

I have no idea what KevSal said. I am 40 and now feel really old.

KevSal made the claim that smilies took up syllables. Then he went all-in and made a haiku of nothing but smilies. 5 syllables, then 7, then 5 again.

    I admire his solution.

Side note: I'm 52, so I guess it's possible I got his message completely and laughably wrong.

    If smileys now count
as words, our brave new world has
    jumped the shark. #Rusty.*

*I have literally no desire to start a debate about whether a "#" is pronounced and computed as a two syllable phrase within a haiku. And I, normally, enjoy such debates.

Yes, clever thinking on the 5, 7, 5. I just don't know what all those emojis stand for (besides the smiley face). Is there a deeper messsage?

If there is, I missed it too.

They seem to work just fine as words in text messages. (Other people's text messages, that is. I don't use 'em.)

I look at it as an interesting regression to hieroglyphics.

Obligatory beer (with a bonus off-topic): The wife wanted to make sure I had a good NW IPA waiting for me last night when I got back from a week in LA, so she stocked the fridge with a bomber of Breakside IPA and a six of Starburst IPA cans from Ecliptic. That Starburst is a real charmer. If you see it, try it.

@Texwild any chance this holds true for out-of-town visiting BA'ers for this year's release? Will arrive Tuesday, June 6

Thank you @Texwild That is beauty to my ears. Do I present my secret BA handshake upon arrival? Or are you able to distinguish a Hawaiian from the local Washingtonians? :grinning:

The haiku test usually trips up the people who live outside the PNW.

Well, that and the clam gun test.

    Secret handshakes aren't
something we do here. Earn the
    beer. Find it. Or don't.:sunglasses:

Well.... this week all the recent Washingtonian tans are peeling off due to the winter moss and tree pollen accumulation.

    Will you still share some
Of that Peach State brew if it
    Doesn't help your case?
