    @John_M
I agree that I don't think the OP will be made whole, and it would be interesting to see what @bugdoc has to say on the matter.

Although no beer was exchanged, it certainly was a negative experience and a shitty situtaion the OP or anyone in their shoes should have to go through without some sort of an *apology*.

Don't think we should make this a *norm* for bad traders (Bad Trader threads) not showing up for an IP trade..but every once in awhile it's good to bring different trading situations to the forefront for the community.

I don't trade beer anymore, but I must say if I packed up some beer, flew it to another country, drug it to a meeting place, and got stood up, I would be as mad, if not more so, than if I Fed Ex'd said beer and got screwed. Real dick move.

It's been nine days since @bugdoc was first tagged in this thread, so evidently the trader either has no defense or is just waiting for us to quit tagging them. Without any response, the community just has to assume that @bugdoc is guilty & hope no one deals with him/her in the future.

He hasn't been on BA in over a month.

I don't usually comment on these threads (even though I follow them closely), but in this case I'd caution people from jumping to too many conclusions. I almost wonder if something happened to @bugdoc ... he hasn't been on here in over a month and OP made this thread less than a month ago - although I'm not quite sure when exactly the date of the IP trade was supposed to happen - and not showing up to an IP trade is not quite the same as stealing someone's beer. Does anyone know this guy outside of BA? @Fyb do you have any contact information for him that you could maybe reach out to him?

Agreed. However... One of the things I noticed, is that he seems to be a pretty rare participant on BA. I took a look at his most "recent" posts, and invariably they're a month or two apart. So who knows when he'll next show up on BA.

As has been noted many times in previous BT threads, there's usually two sides to every story, and often times there's more than meets the eye at first blush. Hopefully nothing has happened to @bugdoc, but the same thought crossed my mind as yours I gather.

I don't know. It's really hard to believe anyone could be this big a jerk/dick. It does make you wonder if something untoward happened to @bugdoc.

    The timeline is pretty much:

*4/21 he made a trade post in the IP int. forum. I PM'd him that same day.
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...openhagen-10-5-14-5-ft-sara-hf-others.506037/

*4/27 we had agreed on a trade, I sent the request and he accepted. At the same time he mentioned that he had never made an IP trade outside the US before, and wasn't sure which way of communicating would be the best. This is also the last I've heard from him.

*4/29 he was supposed to be in Stockholm (according to his initial trade post).

*5/3-5/12 I sent him a couple of messages trying to figure out the details of when and where to meet up.

*5/8 I left for Copenhagen. Brought the beers even though I hadn't heard anything from him because I still expected him to show up and I certainly didn't want to be the guy who tricked someone into flying with beers all for nothing.

*5/10-5/14 he was supposed to be in Copenhagen, where the trade would take place.

I never got any contact info, but assumed that as a fairly experienced trader, he'd figure it out when he'd landed in Europe. Seeing as we agreed on the trade just 2 days before his departure, and with about 2 weeks to go before the trade would happen, I never worried. Lesson learned, from now on I'll make sure to get that info before sending/accepting an IP trade request.

What would be interesting to know is if he has any other open trades for the same trip, and if more people got stood up. When does the open trade expire if I don't leave feedback? I think I'll wait a bit more before doing that.

Thanks for the timeline. It is a really odd situation. I guess the only way this will ever get cleared up is if @bugdoc comes back and explains what happened on his end.

Very odd. I mean there is free wifi available in restaurants, hotels, bars, everywhere in both Stockholm and Copenhagen. It's impossible to go weeks without being online, unless you choose to.

Looks like I have about a month to go before having to leave feedback then. Let's wait and see if he shows up.

@dmbforever , can you please clear up whether it matters if Fyb leaves feedback? Again, it is my understanding that if only fyb leaves feedback, then his feedback gets wiped because both parties did not respond.

If this is accurate, again, it seems like there is a gap in the system. No one (whom is not viewing this now) will likely ever know that this trader (potentially) has been a bad trader in the past. Why do a search if they have a 100% rating.

A quick Internet search reveals that he made it to Stockholm and was sipping Cantillon on 4/29-30.

First and foremost, he should absolutely leave feedback. You right....eventually after 180 days, if he leaves feedback only...the trade will be wiped.

If he doesn't leave feedback, the trade itself will be purged after (60) days.

By not leaving feedback...NO ONE sees anything

By leaving feedback...atleast it shows up for (6) months

Our system isn't perfect...but it's better than nothing. There are *other sites* where trades can be made where there is no feedback...just sayin'...

Like anything in life, there's always room for improvement and this is one flaw in our feedback system currently.

    Cheers!

I don't want to tell you what to do OP, but I would personally leave the feedback sooner rather than later...just sayin'. He's either gonna show up in (6) months or he's not.

In my feedback...I would mention this thread

I hate these "but he's a nice guy" posts, but... I saw this yesterday and asked around since bugdoc is pretty well known in the local beer scene and this is very out of character. I didn't get explicit details but I was told he's had a major ongoing medical emergency. Won't make @Fyb whole, but it sounds like he's unlikely to be active on BA in any short term.

I was just made aware of this thread and will say that's what happened. He hasn't responded because he can't. He didn't make the trade because he couldn't. Leave negative/neutral feedback if feel like you really must, but him missing the trade was completely out of his control.

It's good to have some insights to bugdoc's situation, but the OP probably knows you, @atpca , or me as much as he knows the next random person he will meet on the Internet. Since whatever happened to bugdoc seems personal and you want to keep it private, understandably, I'd suggest messaging the OP and @dmbforever together and elaborate a little more to their satisfaction so that this can be resolved.

Nothing to apologize for. That's part of the reason for these BT threads. As mentioned above, there's usually two sides to every story, and often more to a bad trade than meets the eye at first blush.

It would be nice to obtain some additional information, but at this point it would probably make sense for the OP to just walk away from this. It sounds as if there might have been some pretty extenuating circumstances that prevented @bugdoc from showing up for the IP trade.

    What do you think @dmbforever?

If OP isn't satisfied he can feel free to PM me and let me know what he's looking for. I'm certainly not going to say anything more publicly about this, except to add that bugdoc is about as far as it's possible to be from being a bad trader.
