We don't have any firm plans yet for a bottled Medianoche release, but we will be releasing 14 Month Single Barrel Medianoche in a few weeks as a draft only release available at the brewery. As has always been the case with Medianoche, we do not have a specific time frame in mind for when Medianoche is ready for packaging, we just let the barrels tell us when they're ready. But these Single Barrel releases have been a fun way for us to include others in the aging/tasting/blending process and to see for themselves how this batch is progressing. After releasing the 10 month, 12 month and soon the 14 month, we are realizing that it's only getting better with more time in the barrel. So there's no telling how much longer we'll let it go.

This pumps me up for a lot of reasons... 1) I will definitely be making the trip up for 14-mo after enjoying the 12-mo so much; 2) As much as I would love to be able to bring home bottles, the lack of lines and madness for draft-only does hold a certain appeal and makes it last a lot longer (12-mo was on for several weeks IIRC); 3) Respect the beer, when it's ready, it's ready.

On a semi-related note, I opened a bottle of HBM last night and it was just as great as the draft. The body and mouth feel are simply stunning and the more it warmed up, the more complex and delicious it got.

Thanks for the kind words @Dan_Inreallife . One of the most compelling reasons we continue to do these draft only releases is that it allows us to keep Medianoche on tap longer, giving more people the chance to try it. Don't get me wrong, we are incredibly thankful for the amazing turnouts we have had at our bottle releases, but I think there is also a lot of value for us to be able to offer one of our most sought after beers for several weeks, instead of just a few hours.

And I agree, HBM is amazing and Sean and the crew completely nailed the style! I just wish @CerebralBrewing had sent us more

Just picked up a 12 oz barrel aged yeti. Psyched! Question on this one though: BA says this beer is aged in Stranahan's barrels, which I've known Great divide has used for many of their beers. Someone on here told me once this beer was aged in Jim Beam barrels though? I did sample a Jim Beam yeti at the avery strong ale fest once which was amazing. Just curious. Thanks

I had the same experience at the Avery strong ale fest a few years ago. They had a whiskey yeti which was easily the best beer there and blew me away... Although I am a big yeti fan. haha

What do we have here that's of the same caliber and taste profile of AC Golden Ctayt (that delicious, boozy, liquid fudge)? Sitting on my last bottle as I don't want it to be gone. AC Golden rep told me they don't have any plans to brew it again in the foreseeable future, which is a real shame. Would love to find something comparable that's locally produced / easily(ish) obtainable.

If Avery would ever package barrel-aged Czar it would be. The Dry Dock BA stout is heading more in that direction each year. Liquid Brain still pops up at Grapevine here and there.
I really like Ctayt, so I dunno if any of those are replacement for it, though. The one knock on it is that IMO, it doesn't age very well. I've gotten the type of oxidation that I really don't like (blood/metal) after only a year from multiple bottles.

Interesting on the oxidation. I think my brain just latched on to how good it was that I didn't notice a blood/metal flavor on the one I opened 9 or so months ago (though now that I'm re-reading through this, I am remembering a slight...weird flavor). I'll have my last bottle on my birthday in a couple of months and see if I pick up on it.

Need to revisit the DD straight up BA stout; the first one I had (two years ago or so?) wasn't my favorite, but I've been really digging their other stuff.

Really want to try Liquid Brain! I think I always just miss it if/when it pops up here in the Boulder area.

    Cheers!

It's a flavor I've grown very sensitive to over time and I kinda hate it. At tastings people will be digging stouts from 4-5 years ago and I taste salt, blood, and teriyaki sauce. Occasionally I'll get bottom shelf port flavors, too. Luckily it really only seems to bother me with stouts. I can handle aged barleywine, quads/BSD, old ales, etc. all day.

DD has tweaked a few of their recipes over the last couple years and I think the new BA bombers are the best example of them improving.

Liquid Brain occasionally shows up in the B&B case and at Grapevine. Occasionally vintages will show up on the on premises bottle list unannounced, too. No clue about the distro for it, but I know Glendale is a good place to hunt.

I just grabbed a few at Mr. B's Stanley, they were $11ea, which I think is a buck more than it should be, but I was sick of searching for it.

Good to know they have it still. I've been trying to get down there, just hasn't worked out.
Did they have it on tap by chance? Or anything along those lines?

I grabbed a few Father's Day sets from the barrel bar. The BA Yeti singles are all around the Boulder area. Had to also grab some 750s from my go to spot for the cellar. Not sure if this program will return. Bummer.
