I do enjoy Wussie, in fact it is probably my favorite pilsner.I also really like their new pale ale, Ripper. Relatively low abv with a lot of flavor that is now my go to pale ale.

To expound upon: "None of the older established breweries get much love on this board."

Permit me to add two words to this discussion: Drink local.

    Cheers!

P.S. Can any folks from San Diego confirm whether Stone is selling BIG in that area?

Edit: Perhaps we should the area of RVA to the above question?

At my house there's lots of love for Stone. One thing that's a bit to their detriment is that in my eyes they are positioned right about where SN is. But they price a good 20% or so higher. So I rarely by the mixed twelvers. So when it comes to regional breweries they are outcompeted to some extent. I don't buy 100% SN and 0% Stone but it skews SN when I buy stuff for home. When I'm out I'm more likely to buy Stone.
The other thing is that these days for people like "us" local is where it's at. I'll pay more from super fresh stuff and I know who the owners/brewers are.
So Stone is sort of in a no-man's land - above session-y stuff for home but below the super fresh local stuff. I still buy a fair amount of Stone nonetheless.

I love Stone, even though I rarely drink them. I tend to drink local beer more than anything. Arrogant Bastard was one of the beers that really got me into craft.

I take it you are not from San Diego?

Do you happen to know if Stone sells BIG in San Diego?

    Cheers!

I like Stone's products and admire its commitment to craft brewing. The reason I don't purchase as much of their products as I used to is that there is so much high quality, super fresh beer available locally. I can't keep up with all the new releases. I have the same issue with other breweries I really like such as Ommegang, Troegs, and Weyerbacher.

I'm from NorCal - near Sacramento so here I'd consider Stone regional. Stone is opening a new place in Napa which would be about 45 minutes away.

I will always respect Stone. ALWAYS. My hunt may have led me in new directions; yet, I'll never forget the first time I had Stone IPA or Ruination, for that matter. Life changing.

I want to be a bigger fan of Stone, but since they came to South Dakota a few months ago we've only seen a few IPAs and Milk Stout. Not into IPA and didn't care for Milk Stout. Now waiting for Xocoveza and other fall/winter non-IPA beers, then we'll see if they're worth respecting. I'm surprised we haven't seen much Stone on tap.

I should also say that Stone Distribution will always have the warmest place in my heart. By offering a fair distribution service to other craft beer brewers--their competitors, mind you--they made it possible for craft beer to be what it is today. Truly the kind of collegial attitude that makes craft beer so great.

I like stone, but other than xocoveza and enjoy by most of their other stuff doesn't really stand out to me.

Problem is all they make anymore are some version of IPA.

They CAN make other styles well but they really haven't for a long time.

One look at their 2017 release schedule is all you need to know for me: http://www.stonebrewing.com/beer/release-schedule

With a few exceptions, they've essentially become an IPA brewery and I've always been more fond of some of their other offerings. I'll admit the regular Stone IPA is a great version of the style though. I'll always have respect for them and what they've meant for the American craft beer scene, they just won't be getting much business from me anytime soon.

They don't do anything new and exciting very often, and everything they make is easy to find in most stores so basically, they're not a hype-machine. Doesn't mean people have stopped drinking them, just stopped raving about them.

    Stone makes good beer.

Stone beer is much too expensive for what it is and for what else is out there

    Enjoy

I just purchased my first "Enjoy By" 6 pack. I live in Western New York and is was only 8 days old. The price scared me but the ratings were through the roof. I forked over what felt like an obscene amount of money for a six pack of cans and had one of the best beers I have ever enjoyed. Stone has always been "meeeh" to me but the "Enjoy By" tasted like a world class top tier IPA to me.
