If possible, you might want to change the thread title to indicate "Chicagoland."

Agreed on BCS Reserve. Even paying Prop pricing for Regular aged on Knob Creek barrels seems like a bit much.

I'm assuming the consensus is that we expect Rare Barleywine to be ~$70?

BCS Reserve is the one I will be most interested in (followed by regular BCBS) seeing as BCBS regular was my favorite from 2015 and 2016 releases. If they are close in flavor, the Reserve and regular that is, but with some unique differences then that would be very interesting to try.

With no actual information, but going on the description, I'd suspect that the BCS reserve would be along the lines of coffee in pricing. $12-$15. Cant see paying more than that.

God, I hope not. Seems like way too much. On the flip side, if its that much I'll probably have no issues tracking down a bottle.

I'm a little disappointed we're getting Knob Creek BCS, but not Scotch BCS; I was curious to see how that one would turn out.
I just assumed they'd keep the price in-line with Rare. These are first-use bourbon barrels, right (meaning not used by BCS beforehand)?

No, these are barrels that were already used for 2015 Rare...making them third use. So, they've really re-couped all their "costs" with the pricing of Rare. I would guess they can't go as high as Rare was due to the fact this is a BW and the cat is kind of out of the bag in terms of the "rarity" of Rare 2015.

Yeah, I was too lazy to go back and read the original GI press release or whatever, so thanks. If these are third use barrels (and 2nd for beer), I definitely have to think it'll be cheaper than Rare, 1) because it's a barleywine (doesn't have the cachet as those beautiful stouts) 2) barrels are more used and 3) like you said, Rare was very much not rare.

Regarding the Reserve Barleywine, I know it's aged in the 2015 Rare barrels but has there been any confirmation of volume, i.e., will there be as much of it as there was 2015 Rare? Did GI fill all or substantially all of those barrels with Barleywine?

If you decide to go to Binnys Lincoln Park, get there early.

Last year MANY people got shut out after nearly a three hour wait. Basically anyone who arrived after about 9am.

The Lincoln Park allocation, 1200, was the same as 2015, and did not account for the influx of people last year. Hard to say what this year will hold, but with six variants this year I would expect a significant increase in people going to Binnys.

I could be way off but I'd assume it'll be priced like Prop or less. Similar to the Regal Rye cost in 15. Personally, it'd be a hard pass if they up the cost beyond that

Yeah with 7 variants this year, regardless of volume, allotment of each....I fully expect line turnout for all Binnys, not just LP, to see a significant spike from last year. If there was ever a year where having a second person stationed at a seperate location black Friday morning, and yourself at another, this is the release it would seem to pay dividends. Seems like binnys, jewel, whole foods, all will be in consideration for me this year, with the goal to acquire all 7 variants. Good time to be in Chicago my friends. Cheers.

Fannnnn-tastic. I've always believed that what the BCBS Black Friday release needs is more hype.

There's going to be a lot of chaos over which stores are getting what variants. Obviously the big stores will get them all, but the last few years I've been trying to avoid the lines by going to smaller places.
