Could be any style. Usually the session IPA's get the nod. But I don't like them. I enjoy a dry Irish Stout, or a good APA. Aside from the lagers, what do you like to session with when you have the opportunity and the available beer?

Big fan of drinking Lost Nation Gose, especially during the hot summer months. It Goes-a Down So Smooth!

I love their Gose! Perfect for a hot afternoon.

Aside from that one, I really enjoy a fruity, session IPA.

Probably pilsners. Flavorful enough to be endlessly enjoyable, yet light enough to warrant a huge session without getting tiring. I drank almost a 12 pack of Sunshine Pils in one day once. Haha. I love goses but any sour beer wears on my palate after a few. The other beers I've sessioned heavily are Founders All Day IPA, (it really lives up to its name) and of course Guinness.

Westbrook Gose (especially Key Lime since it's available this time of year).

And for anyone down south that has access:

Southern Prohibition's Devil's Harvest, just a hazy clean session ipa with hardly any bitterness sitting at 4.9% ABV

Does "to session" mean to drink many beers in a row?

If I know I need to drink many (e.g. bachelor party or long event) I go with whatever the best lower ABV option is.

Wheat beers are always a solid option for me. Lower ABV, easy drinking, refreshing when out in the sun.

Pilsner, pale ale or session IPA. Session IPAs aren't in the rotation as often, I'm not a huge fan, but I've found 2 I really enjoy and have been drinking them quite a bit.

Um. Why? Posters will most likely ignore that.

I'm going to ignore it as well and give another nod to light lagers (pilsners, helles, festbiers, kolsch).

British pale ales (bitters, special bitters, ESBs) are also on the top of my list. Usually homebrewed since they are so hard to find, but I can't leave a UK themed pub without at least 3.

Depending on the weather a low abv and dry stout or porter fit the bill too.

Mild, if you can find one.

I like Hacker-Pschorr Munchner Gold if I can find it, Sunner and Reissdorf Kolsch, and Victory Pils and Foothills Torch Pils. Some wag needs to produce a 4% Barelywine for these hot Summer days.

British-style pale ales (Bitter preferred but hard to find in session-strength in the USA, even using the American definition of less than 5% and allowing for a few 10ths over that... ), lighter German-style beers (including Pilsener, Kölsch, Hefeweizen).

I ignored that but assumed the op meant AALs.

The beers I grew up with were pretty well all these beers and with them came the ability to drink pint after pint throughout the session.A session was the time the pubs were permitted to open, roughly 11 am to 2.30 pm and 5.30 to 10.30 pm.
Thankfully I can still get most of these and despite everything that is being brewed today they remain my "go to" brews.
They remain the mainstay of the pubs and clubs because so many people have to drive there. No point in going all the way to a pub and only having one or two beers![IMG]
This is what I used to drink in my school lunchtime over 50 years ago.It remains one of my favourites, I will order a pint whenever I see it on the bar, regardless of what else is on offer.

How about Anchor Small Beer? It's 3.3% and made from the second runnings from Old Foghorn Barleywine's mash. :grinning:  It's also very drinkable.

Yeah, that could be the case... but: 1) AALs are a legit response, 2) let's not say lager when we mean AALs.
