Crain's Chicago Business mag has a fuller article on the comeback - MillerCoors brings Zima back to US market

    Contains a few surprising stats:
Over a million barrels is pretty impressive for a new product, but the underlined claim is nonsense- A million barrels would only be about ½% of the US beer market at the time (1993 = 180.4 million bbl), so even less of the total "booze" market when wine and spirits are included.

You just mentioning Sun Country coolers reminds me of the headaches I got after drinking 2 of those.

The mini-Wal-Mart located near me has three full double doors of cooler space dedicated to alco-pop (Seagrams, Not your Fathers..., Smirnoff, Ed's and on.....) These things do sell and even a weird (Zima) nostalgia seems to have value.

I remember hearing about Zima production ending, but the next time I was in Japan being in a Snack/Girls Bar where the girls drinks (which are bought by the men customers for the girls working in the bar) were still Zima. I thought that they were filling old bottles with water. Then I saw Zima was still at the 7/11 stores.
The foreigner tag team Roppongi Vice in New Japan Pro Wrestling has named their finishing move Strong Zero. Taxes in Japan favor spirits over beer. Super adjunct beers and canned mixed drinks are so much cheaper than malt beer.

Rethink: If this winds up in the BA database, I guess I'll have to buy a single for ticking purposes. I will split it with the dog and the waste water treatment plant, though.

"What are you doing this weekend?"
"Oh, not much, picking up some Zima's and going to the Joey Lawrence concert at the mall."

Zima is to silk shirts and gold chains what Twisted Tea is to stained tank tops and NASCAR hats.

I was excited for the Zima Gold release once upon a time. Yes, I was young & stupid, but I grew out of it.

Oh, man. I remember drinking Zima in the parking lot of Pine Knob before a Steve Miller concert. Clear drinks were huge, so for us (who weren't exactly... close to legal age) it made it easy to put in bottles of Mistic or Canadian Clear and no one looked twice.

Yup. Although I preferred a can (not Zima) inside of an empty fast food cup, complete with straw. 90% foam. But when you're under 21, you think you're cool.

    Lol, "limited release."

The question is which joker here is going to try barrel aging some?

Stacks of it showed up in Casper. I'd rather drink a Bartels and James.

    So...

I was joking going to say I never cared for Zima, but I wish they'd bring back Purple Passion. So I went searching for a PP image to link... Yea, they're bringing that back as well. I remember having a 2 liter bottle of Purple Passion once... once...

I too have fond memories of the red label from my youth. What was the tagline? "It's so good, we just called it Miller."

Too bad there's no chance I'd drink it now!

I think I had it in 2006 or 2007. 12226 on the bottom of the can. I felt like it was Miller's equivalent of Coors' Extra Gold. Upped the flavour of their respective flagship beers. I never ever saw an ad for it anywhere so I have no idea what Miller's ad /tagline was.

Yeesh - I think I drank it in 1999/2000ish. It wasn't around for long & didn't score much shelf space.
