I got some New Jack and Booneshine Tropical IPA last night. Wishing I had got two New Jacks. So good.

Any cans left at New Anthem and/or Wilmington?

    Heading down tomorrow. Thx!

Beer Study still had a good amount of New Jack when I was there on Wednesday.

The new batch of Steez is tremendous. The additional dry hop brought more punch to the offering.

I feel like I'm not as blown away as most people on this thread. The Wilmington Brewing NE IPA was a butter bomb and the New Jack smelled like onions. They're drinkable I guess, but not worth picking up in my opinion. "Outta This Galaxy" by Trophy on the other hand was actually a good NE DIPA, but I'm pretty sure they're sold out of cans. "Bandwagon" by Four Saints was also a good "NE IPA" when they released cans a little while ago.

I wouldn't say I was "blown away" by them, but had both the New Anthem ones and Cool Kids last night and thought they were all solid. Definitely didn't taste like butter and onions lol.

Agree on Outta This Galaxy though, I think that one has been established as Trophy's best hoppy beer since the first batch and it was no surprise they picked it to be the first one in that scout series or whatever it's called.

I REALLY dig the new Local with enigma & topaz. Bond Bros has gotten pretty darn consistent.

Outta This Galaxy was great, I rarely go to Trophy Pizza (not a fan of the pizza) but stopped in there before Bhavana on Thursday. Wish I had seen cans of it.

New Jack was OK for me, a solid IPA. The praise for New Anthem surrounds their NEIPAs, Thru My Trees and Neon God. I didn't get any diacetyl with either Kitten Biscuit or All The Cool Kids Are Doing It, both very unique New England style IPAs. Cool Kids stands out for me for the flavor given the low ABV. Kitten Biscuit is in the same league as Julius for mouth feel and smooth hops, but it lacks the hop aromas that Tree House kills. Don't get me wrong, Julius, Congress St, Swish, and their ilk are on a higher platform. But, Heist, Wilmington Brewing, and New Anthem are pumping out consistently great NEIPA. What sets Wilmington apart is that they have been killing in with their hops, stouts, and saison offerings for years. I wouldn't sleep on WBC.

Completely agree with the diacetyl/butter problem with the Wilmington Brewing NE IPA. Also, how exactly is it supposed to be a NE IPA? I don't think low bitterness alone makes the style. No head retention. No creamy mouthfeel. No haze. Id be interested to know the yeast they used as well.

Also agree on Outta this Galaxy. Excellent beer. Outta this Citra was good as well.

I just had a Wilmington all the cool kids and I did get a little butter, but I didn't think it was over the top. Regardless not appropriate for the style. The nose was amazing as soon as I open the can. Agreed not as hazy as I would've expected.

So the High Branch/Heist collaboration HB Squared is fantastic. High Branch is also killing it with Unstable as well. These guys are absolutely slaying it.

I've liked what I've had from High Branch, they just need to refine the murky look on some of their hoppy beers. They're certainly not the only ones though.

Blarg...picked up an All The Cool Kids at my local shop. Straight butter from the first sip. Why oh why can't this silly state figure out the NEIPA?

Yes I've had heist, it's fine but they don't seem intent on making theirs a regular offering. And as a Triangle resident Richmond is closer than Charlotte so if I'm making a trip it would be there for Veil, Answer, TC.

C'mon Raleigh get your shit together.

The two worst things about NC--

    Lack of trendy ipas.

    Northern transplants.

Lol we're the only reason Raleigh is booming like it is right now. Your house is worth more thanks to transplants like me. All I ask is a decent IPA in return.
