Thinking of making the trip Saturday. How have the releases been so far?

I saw an Instagram story of the labels going on the bottles so I assumed it was bottled today. I forgot they posted that a while ago.

    1. who gives a shit about labels.. does it identify what you are drinking and who made it? job done.

    2. you can take a bus from port authority or george washington bus terminal and be in downtown middletown in a little over an hour..

There is also a train from NYC to middletown.. but like so many stupid NY towns in the area the station is NO WHERE near downtown like it was originally. It used to be behind an 84 lumber yard, now it's by sam's club and that horrible mall on 211 in the town of wallkill. You could walk from there but it's a few miles aways, bus would be better option if going downtown.

    1. Lots of people give a shit about the labels. They are how you present yourself, your brand to your customers and the entire world. The photon cans were impossible to read. The same goes for the blackbery TABA bottles, why would you put the fruit addition on the side like that in the same color as the background? It just doesn't make any sense. And back to the cans, the government warning does not need to take up half the label, it could easily be 50% smaller. These are all stupid design decisions that could have been avoided had they hired a designer. You cant tell me these guys don't know a single local artist they could support? That's what artist do, help fellow creative people out.

    2. Ive been trying to figure out a way to make it up to the brewery but Google maps says its at least an hour and a half drive. What bus is this?

At this point you should probably start a separate thread for the label discussion.

Sadly not enough people give a shit about labels and stay home from releases at Equilibrium, which have had lines. Maybe you can convince more folks to stay home, and I can get some of their beers in future ( I don't care about labels but won't wait on line nowadays)

You can take a Coach USA/Shortline bus from Port Authority to the terminal in Middletown. Equilibrium is walking distance from the terminal. I'd say the bus ride is probably closer to 2 hours than 1 though.

There's not much to say when it comes to labels other than, I like it or I dont like it. But talk of them not mattering is where my jimmies get rustled. I've never said labels effect the beer at all, but that doesn't mean they aren't important. I'd be happy to start a thread just for labels haha it seems like many in the Grimm/ Other Half threads actually appreciate well designed labels (and glassware)

Labels DO matter, aesthetics are important, but only for beer that is literally on shelves and only when a prospective buyer has never had beer or heard anything about that particular brewery.

Equilibrium sells cans only at their brewery, and in the event they ever start distributing, their cans will sell out instantly in the vein of Grimm/Finback/LIC/etc when those get into stores.

So, their can labels, quite literally DO NOT MATTER so for the love of god can you guys talk about anything else?

How can you say they don't matter while talking about Grimm/Finback/LIC ? They all either have a designer or spend a tone of time working on their labels. None of those cans sit on store selves for long at all. Other Half only distributes via brewery and they use a local design house. People love their labels. Hudson Valley is having their first can release this weekend and their labels are fantastic...because they hired someone to do them. Those cans wont sit on shelves either.

When Equilibrium doesn't sell out of their beers within a day or 2 from the brewery and needs to distribute, then this becomes a valid argument. Until then, they could write the name of the beer on the can with a sharpie and it doesn't matter.

It only matters for people that care more about taking pretty instagram pictures of their beer than actually drinking it.

It blows my mind that so many people in this thread seem to not value art.

it's a fucking beer can. you throw it away (or recycle) when you're done with it.

holy fuck this is stupid. since equilibrium has begun canning, there have been like 3 total posts in this thread about the beer. maybe that's for the better. hope these homies stay away because of what is clearly a "flawed product".

I love art. I go to museums to see it, and have some hanging in my house. Being filled with fine beer isn't a requirement for my art, nor is being encased in art a requirement for my beer, but that's just me.
