They also got a substantial grant from NY State to open there.

They did, and I also believe that the city is pretty much ending up giving them the property for free. Even with what they got, I'm sure it still took substantial capital on their part and it doesn't minimize the potential affect the brewery will have on revitalizing that downtown area (which was the basis for the grant).

How is the new TABA sour?

TABA Blackberry is tasting amazing. I like it much better than the plum that was on tap. Tastes and smells like a berry smoothie.

To those who continue to say: "who cares about the labels, it's about the beer inside" -

Everyone who is a part of this discussion has had and enjoys their beer. So that is not in question. If you can't understand why sticking your beautiful beer in an ugly can doesn't put people off, if you can't understand why people's visual perception influences their taste (hi NE pales), I don't know what to tell you.

To those complaining about the labels -

EQ is still new, Tree House's labels were ugly at first and so were TH's. I am willing to bet my life savings that the cans won't look like that in a year or two.

Personally I don't understand it, but if it keeps people off the lines in front of the brewery I am all for making it even more off putting to these folks.

Sat. release, with another beer TBD. This label sucks, I recommend folks stay home for this release in protest.

This is what I have been saying all along. Putting your work of art in a can that doesn't reflect that art degrades your work. Nobody is saying it effects the taste of the beer, just their overall brand. Regardless of whether or not it sit on a shelf. I don't think the "well fix it later" mentality is good business, they figured out a logo before opening, they can surely put a brand together.

And I thought I was beating a dead horse!

Does anyone with intel happen to know if they plan to can a new beer?

Appears that they've moved the labels higher up on the can......

How long do cans / bottles usually stick around for?

Planning to visit this weekend for the release. What's the typical line situation and the craziness that ensues if we plan to get there around 11AM?

I was able to walk in about 12:30pm for the Fluctuation release and was able to get full allotment without any line, though there is a sour release this weekend so it could be more crowded I guess.

They were still selling full allotments of mc2, blackberry, and plum around 12:30, with only a handful of people in line. Not sure of right now though

EDIT: Update: all sold out of MC2 cans and Blackberry bottles. Still have 25 cases of plum left!! @… instagram.com/p/BWA3V1DgHB4/

both plum and blackberry are insanely good. looking forward to seeing how they age as well. love how fruity the blackberry is, while the balance on the plum is fantastic.
