I'll also agree with kona and add to it:

    -saranac
    -southern tier

And a few that I generally avoid but may tempt fate on the rare occasion:
    -heavy seas
    -hoppin frog
    -new belgium

You leave harpoon alone! Haha. But I'd say they're better on tap than anything else. But their limited runs are tasty.

Agreed. Went to Florida earlier this Spring and was stoked to pick up a few varieties at the Harris Teeter based on word of mouth praise. Nothing really did it for me. I'd also say Stone, by girlfriend keeps on picking up new six packs she sees (GoTo, Ripper, Ghost Hammer, etc) and none of it has impressed.

GFB is meh. Actually Terrapin's Rye Ale is pretty good. I'm not a fan of their IPAs.

I just don't get New Belgium. For what they are? Colorado has so much more to offer.

Only thing I'll drink that Abita has is their Root Beer.

Their French Toast was fairly good. But they are one of those breweries that does goofy shot flavours.

Person: You know. I wanna beer that tastes like afterbirth. Always wanted to try something like that.
Funky Buddha: Yo, fam. Try our Sweet Potato Casserole.

Meanwhile, had never heard a thing about Aardwolf and liked basically everything I tried. Good spot.

Proof that when people say everything in Vermont is spectacular, lol, nope, not really. Some say they add the excessive adjuncts to hide the fact that they don't clean their tanks. Me, I don't know what to think with them.

I try their beers when I can, but pretty much give a hard stare to some of my friends like - what was the name of that beer they just brewed? Lol, wooooooooeeeeeee, yeah, no thanks. :grimacing:

Whatever happened to brewers just trying to brew something good and keep a quality sturdy style without excessive creativity? I've seen others on BA say something similar. Bent Hill is a prime example of why newer brewers should get the basics down first and keep their tanks clean.

I'd say all but a couple of the local breweries fall into this bucket for me.

Lots of breweries in the DFW area are all about the experimental/novelty beers but only a couple really seem to be better than average homebrewers.

Of the breweries with bigger distribution I've never liked Boulevard's beers, although I haven't drank any of their beers in about 5 years so I don't know if anything's changed since then.

Breckenridge. Tried Avalanche, Vanilla Porter, and Agave Wheat. Didn't like any of them. Avalanche was okay at best and the other two were bad. I have no intention of trying any from them again.

Probably Troegs for me. Don't get me wrong there are some beers I've had from them that I do quite like, but many of their beers that people rave about here on the board I've found below avg. In fact looking at the 17 active beers I've rated, I'm below average in my rating on 9 of them and I'm a very generous rater and probably most other brewers I'm 75%+ "in the green" or above the avg.

    Clown Shoes
    New Belgium
    Southern Tier
    Abita
    Heavy Seas.

Probably make some fine brews, but my first impressions were bad and no reason for me to try any others.
