Good morning BA, hope everyone enjoys the holiday. I had my family time over the weekend, so I am relaxing today for the most part. Probably will do the laundry today, since I didn't have time last weekend. I have a ton of bottle/can empties piled up, so I will get rid of them as well. Looking to be a nice day for weather.

Haven't had this in 4.5 years, redoing the review. Really fresh 6/19 bottling. Same with the Apocalypse Cow I grabbed last weekend, will revisit that one soon. This was fantastic! Amazing head retention and lasting lacing on the glass. Flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit, light honey malt balance; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light pine/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; great bready/grainy wheat creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing bitter dryness. Insanely drinkable and refreshing, with awesome hop juiciness and vibrancy. Glad I got a 6 pack last weekend. I will definitely never pass this up when I see it! I think want to brew a recipe of this for my empty keg. Need to get out of my brewing slump soon. 4.28

Awesome as usual. We just started getting the San Diego version around here. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, smoke, and char; with some lighter notes of molasses and herbal/piney hops. Moderate roast/char and herbal/piney hop bitter finish. Medium-plus bodied; nice bready creaminess in the mouthfeel; some sticky hops and chalky roast. Increasing bitter/char dryness, but never acrid or astringent. Very drinkable and complex. I wanted to compare this to the one I reviewed from De Proef last year, and I would say this is very similar; but somewhat less bitter and drying, with a creamier/fuller mouthfeel. Well worth picking up again.

Insane IPA. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, guava, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate bready/light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced sticky/resinous hops and bready/grainy malts in the mouthfeel. Moderately crisp, increasing dryness, no hop astringency. Amazingly drinkable and refreshing for an IPA. Just as amazing as the regular Born Yesterday for me. Not as hazy as last fall, but just as juicy on the hop flavors. Wish they made this year round, they definitely have the capacity and resources to do it. Mosaic and Equinox hops are my favorite.

Self cellared 2016, have another one left. This is mind blowing amazing! Flavors of huge milk chocolate, caramel, coconut, vanilla, cream, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oak, bourbon, maple, and molasses; with light notes of cocoa, coffee, and raisin/fig yeast fruitiness. Light bourbon/oak spice and roast bitterness on the finish. Fullish bodied; creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Slight roast malt chalk and oak tannins. Touch of bourbon/oak dryness. Very mildly warming 15%, zero barrel booze. Just as insane as I remember from the 2015 I reviewed in Jan 2016. The barrel integration and balance is absolutely perfect. This time around the bourbon/oak tannins seem to be less prominent; which leads to a much silkier/velvety mouthfeel than I remember. Wow! Wish they did this in the 12 ounce bottles again. Would be easier to have more often.

    Cheers

Today we celebrate the day many of our founding fathers officially decided to Rise Up! Of course, this was a rEvolution against British colonial rule, a cry for independence from a perceived oppressive government. It wasn't until over a decade later that these same men and others came to form our national government, one based on the ideas of liberty and freedom for, well... a large portion, of its inhabitants.

And today the GF and I have the freedom to drink a beer made nearby in MD:

    Happy 4th fine folks!
I am back from work and back tonight. Should be a "fun" night at work since many people get into accidents and do things they shouldn't do inebriated.
This fine Stoneface Mozaccalypse will get me ready for any apocalypse!!
    Cheers and stay safe!

Good morning BAs! Happy 4th to everybody! My son and I are heading to the Butler county fair later to hang out with the chickens - Mrs. Lizard is embarrassed to be seen with us - we talk to the chickens and head bob right along with them - good times!

Today's New Breakfast Beer isn't really new - I had it back in 2010 before I enlisted in BA. But it's kind of interesting (to me, anyway) to see if my opinion has changed. It hasn't - meh then and meh now. Of course the 2010 edition was subject to the vagaries of international shipping and beer storage here in the US. Today's bottle was purchased down the road from the brewery and subject to the vagaries of coming to the US in my suitcase.

Was gifted this. Still kind of don't care for it honestly. From way early this morning I've got to do some work today. It sucks but I wasn't doing anything anyway. That x2 holiday pay though. Cheers.
