Anyone know which hub in VT is an issue? I ship 75% of my packages out via FedEx from a VT location and have never had an issue.

The location I ship from is in the WRJ area.

Outgoing from VT doesn't seem to be too much of an issue. Incoming is, particularly due to delivery drivers noticing the same recipient getting similar boxes. Similarly, hub workers noticed as well. Burlington/Williston has been named a few times. Personally, it doesn't matter where in VT, I never ship boxes there via FedEx.

Thanks for the info! I looked into it a little more and it looks like the boxes I ship out all head back into Littleton, NH as the first main hub.

Another thing worth mentioning is that I avoid FedEx hubs and stores in general and drop boxes at authorized shippers (mom and pop mailbox stores, OfficeMax/Office Depot, etc.). No one asks questions and no one cares.

Yeah, I use a little copy shop. Very friendly, they save extra shipping materials for me too sometimes.

I was just wondering if we needed a pinned post noting this issue. With the last thread I really felt for the person who sent the package and lost the whole thing because of lack of warning. If you are in Vermont and don't warn your trading partner you are partially to blame.
This issue seems pervasive and ongoing. How many BAs need to lose a heap of cash and money and get blamed for it for us to do something to help.

Does the shipping cost the same? Haven't had any problems with my Fed Ex here (knock on wood), but there's a little shipping place real close to my house. I've just never considered it.

Yes. The UPS option (a small office supplies store) in my area adds $1.00 but this location does not.

In my experience FedEx was always a day or so faster. In my area (rural) they have one pick up per day, so timing plays a big role. If I get to FedEx after 3:30 it doesn't get picked up until the next day at around 3pm. For speed, the USPS flat rate boxes are the best though. I dropped off one to Hawaii on this past Monday and it arrived on Wednesday.

I am a little interested if you traded with the same person as I did in Hawaii, it was an eye opener using those boxes. Though they really don't replace 12 bottles shippers and this was a bottle for bottle trade not cans. :-)

Yes, only work if what you want to ship fits. Great for 10-12 cans or a few bottles. I probably wouldn't use for something I couldn't replace.

Great story! Haven't used them in years for VT shipping. When the employees brag about all the beer they get to take home from the boxes they x ray at the Williston Hub, we all take our shipments to USPS or ups.

Curious if people still have issues with FedEx shipping into Vermont?

If so, do you ship via USPS or UPS into the stat

    Cheers!

I live right on the border and a good amount of my boxes travel through VT.
The only issues I have ever had (either direction, probably 500 boxes) have been with FedEx.
I use USPS almost exclusively now. I have never personally had a USPS issue (150 or so shipments) but I have seen people receiving broken boxes that have been either re-packed, shrink-wrapped or put into plastic bags. This is better than being sent back to sender or destroyed (FedEx common practices)/

Just had a box delivered to vt, status said delivered, then five minutes later it says shipment exception. The Williston hub branch manager said the delivery driver opened the box due to leakage (styro shipper, all bubble wrapped) he found alcohol. They "destroyed" the box and told me the insurance doesn't apply to illegal shipments. It's all a gamble with FedEx in VT. With USPS and ups I've never had an issue once.

After hearing this, I'm going to give my experience of shipping to VT. After the response from @jhavs I shipped my 3 bottles into VT via USPS. Absolutely no issues and my trade partner got the box in 3 days. He initially shipped out in a six shipper via FedEx early Monday morning. When there was no shipping update on Wednesday I reached out to my trade partner. He spoke with the location he dropped it off at and said they will not ship it out because it contains alchohol(a location near Burlington). Luckily they let him pick it up. He shipped it out via UPS and it got to me a week later!
