Beautiful day shaping up here in the greater D.C. metro. Long walk with dog done, and now taking my breakfast from the box:

This porter is pretty good! Looks like a great day to do the Old Town pub crawl this afternoon in Alexandria - see y'all later today!

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I have to make a trip down to REI in Troy today to pick up a new fluid bike trainer my mom got me from my birthday. Been using a cyclops mag trainer for over 3 years now and it is quite worn out, so it'll be nice to have a new one. The fluid resistance is harder than the magnet one also(exponential vs linear the faster you pedal). Will probably make a beer store visit or two while I am down there.

Awesome new recipe! Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate bready, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins and increasing bitter dryness, with no hop astringency. Zero warming 9.6% ABV. Super drinkable. Definitely less malty and far less aggressively bitter than I remember from the old recipe. Still has really juicy hop vibrancy. I re-reviewed it last month. Not quite as impressed as my old review, but still completely delicious.

Amazing again this year. Flavors of huge nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, and light smoke/dark fruit; with some herbal/woody hop and coffee characteristics. Light-moderate herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness; full-ish body creamy/silky mouthfeel, with some light sticky/chalky roast notes as well. Lightly increasing bitter/roasted dryness. One of the most coffee forward beers I've ever had. Huge on fruity/nutty coffee complexity; and the base brown ale is spot on, and very well balanced. Like a brown ale version of FBS, and I feel it is equally as impressive. Feels a tad more bitter than I recall last year, but is strarting to smooth out after 3 months. I prefer regular breakfast stout with 6 months on it anyways, so will definitely be grabbing more 4 packs before they disappear again.

Always amazing, this is my favorite shelf BBA stout of all time. Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, molasses, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, wood, and dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, smoke, and char. Balanced bittersweet roast/char finish with some spicy bourbon/oak against sweetness. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied creamy/silky rich mouthfeel. Very smooth sipping, lightly warming. This and Wulver are always in my cellar stock now, despite the price. Worth it for me though.

5.5 year revisit review! Ohio is always my FFF hookup now. This was incredible! Fantastic head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and piney hops; with moderate honey, light caramel, and lightly toasted bread malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds and increasing bitter dryness, with no hop astringency. Zero warming 8.6%(per website, BA says 11%). Very vibrant, juicy, and lightly dank hops. Very drinkable. For me this feels like a lightly sweeter Dreadnaught (which I haven't had in about 4 years now). The hop profile is pretty much identical to what my 2013 review states. Hope to revisit it again eventually. Dreadnaught seems to be even more rare than most of their other beers, whenever I go to Ohio lately(despite being year round). Haven't seen it in the same amount of time since I reviewed it; but all 6 packs have been pretty easy to acquire. 4.33

I'm not actually drinking birthday bomb at the moment, I'm testing postimages.org after the demise of Photobucket's free membership. Seems to work well so far! Mods delete away if you like.

Oh and sorry for the dark and out of focus pic too, that's all me.

Good morning BAs! Another overcast, probable scattered thunderstorms, day here in NW PA. I don't really want to be up an aluminum in the trees with a chainsaw this type of weather, but I may have to be. I'd rather sit around the house drinking beer and hanging with the reptiles like yesterday. Oh well - shouda woulda coulda... Today's pre-tree climbing and New Breakfast Beer is:

Note the stickers: "Bourbon Barrel Aged" and "Sour". I have no problem with the BBA sticker - even Peche Mortel uses them, but the "Sour" sticker seems like an attempt to keep selling a contaminated beer. Not a very good idea to my way of thinking.

A passable low-end sour but a poor example of either a scotch ale/wee heavy or a BBA anything.

Im having some of this here Uinta Detour Double IPA. Pours with a deep copper tint. Almost two finger thick head on this bad dad. Lots of bubbles rising to the top but doesnt look overly carbonated.Citra hops on the nose. Grapefruit is quite dominant in the taste. Alcohol is well hidden. Bitter after taste but not overly distracting.
Munich C40, bravo, citra and cascade are the hops in this brew. The sweetness is having a fight with the citrus rind for a prominent place in my taste buds. All the flavors come together as it warms. Not bad.

    Cheers

Probably the best beer ever to close out a share. Can't believe I was lucky enough to try it for a second time.
