Agreed. Never once even thought about going yesterday and opted to spend my whole weekend doing yard work, surfing and drinking on the beach. Sitting on the beach now with some SNPA. I love our local beers but I don't need to always be drinking $16-$20 DIPA 4-packs to enjoy beer.

We had a couple week day releases recently. The biggest reason why there's not more weekday releases is because the canning schedule is based around the brewing schedule. We can't can what's not ready. Most of our beers tend to be ready by the end of the week with the current brewing schedule. But the plan is to be canning a lot more and releasing beers during the week in the new taproom.

Going old school today with one of my OG favorites, Sculpin. For me it's been eclipsed by my favorite locals, as much as I would have liked some OH growlers today, not worth 3 hours of RT driving. Nice to be able to get it 5 minutes from my house. I have been overdosing on local Mosaic beers which I love, but need to reset my palate. The 12 ounce cans look miniature compared to the 16 ounce cans in my frig.

You mean like all the different cans of hazy IPA available from Finback, Greenpoint, LIC BP, Interboro, SingleCut, or Grimm? :stuck_out_tongue:

Line is out the door again, about 20 deep.

Got back to Astoria with two growlers of Fully Loaded, and one of Twice Baked. Cracked opened a Fully Loaded and Twice and drinking some now.

Both are damn phenomenal (but I'm ultimately glad I didn't venture out at the witching hour to pick them up). I've seen a fair amount of people say they prefer Twice Baked, but I personally prefer Fully Loaded. Fully Loaded definitely tastes more like a OH beer than Twice Baked does.

But as great as these beers are, these and other OH releases are undoubtedly overshadowing some other fantastic beers around NYC. For example, I would say that LIC Beer Project's Hollows is just as good (perhaps slightly better) than Twice Baked, but there's no way it would receive as much attention due solely to brand name.

Doesn't fall under the "easily available" category but I'm having a guttersnipe at gold star. Never had Sand city before and super excited to try. Delicious.

No I mean like pils, lagers, hefes, ipas like torpedo, etc. hazy ipas all taste the same for the most part enjoyable yes but there's no much to them. Nimble giant is a great example, way more too it than juicy hops. People hate on malt but it adds a complexity to a beer that the beloved juice bombs don't have.

Sand City doesn't have OH level madness, but getting hard to get their beers also when they release cans. They make some good stuff though. Not the quantity of great beers OH produces week in and week out , but a couple of their best stuff is right up there with OH best stuff.

Damn you cracked both? Sounds like you have a big day ahead of you unless you plan on saving the rest for tomorrow.

Got my 3 growlers with a minimal 10-15 minute wait. Really loving Twice Baked.

In my experience growlers can last three days, maybe four max

Seriously- I've been drinking more stouts from my collection than I do during the winter, not to mention snagging singles of Leffe or whatever German beer I've never had before just to keep it interesting. IPA fatigue is real.

And it sounds like there is no to minimal lines, for the same exact product that generates hours long lines when in can format.

If I was local I'd definitely head over for some pours and maybe a growler or two.

Are you referring to sculpin as not readily available? I can get multiple varieties at almost every Walgreens and DR in the city. That's a good thing.

Wish OH could have a regular light citrus infused IPA actually. City Slickers is one of my fave. No panacea IP with Pink Guava from Three was one of my fave beers of the summer thus far.

I do feel the need to mix it up with IPAs sometimes, for me, I usually like to go with Hefe.

You might be mixing posts, Guttersnipe by Sand City isn't easy to get!

A lot of Sand City stuff is incredible.

I'm just thinking about OH's neighbors, I know I'd be pissed if people were hanging out all night right outside my window.
