I am driving from Helena, MT to Seattle and will be stopping off in Spokane to wet my beak and pick up some brews for a couple BIFs I am currently a part of. Any good suggestions for breweries and good stores with proper beer selections? much appreciated...
No-Li Brewing is pretty good and has a great DIPA right now. Other local breweries are pretty good as well. Check out Iron Goat. Post St. Ale House is having a pumpkin fest tomorrow with 16 different pumpkin taps, and Elysian is tapping a 200lb pumpkin full of their pumpkin stout. Manito Tap House has 50 taps and some really good food. Always some great taps on. There is a newer brewery in Post Falls that is doing some amazing Belgian beers. Especially the IPA. Let me know if you have any other questions. JBs and Enoteca are the 2 best bottle shops. Huckleberries on Monroe as well.
I highly suggest taking a short detour off of I-90 and hitting Laughing Dog in Ponderay, ID. They make some really nice brews. I'm not a big fan of Northern Lights (now known as No-Li) but they're probably worth a quick visit. I also suggest jumping off the interstate in Ellensburg and checking out Iron Horse. I would also recommend a visit to Roslyn, WA (especially if you liked the tv show Northern Exposure), Roslyn Brewing only makes a couple brews, but I like 'em.
Pints Alehouse and Jones radiator are two more good stops. I like iron goat a lot if you want some draft/Growler only beer. bottles in millwood is my favorite bottle shop.
I second the new brewery in Post Falls; Selkird Abbey. Another nod to Enoteca as well (close to Selkirk Abbey). JBs beer and bottle works is a good bottle shop but they do over buy sometimes and have things on the shelf for way too long. Sometimes that can also be a good thing (2010 World Wide Stout). I'd grab a pizza at The Flying Goat. Good tap selection and bottle list to go with the good food.
Post St. Ale House is the place to be tonight. Was there earlier this afternoon and all pumpkin beers are available now. Some great stuff on tap!!
As a former spokomptonite, I throw in my recommendations for the El Patio in Stateline and/or Curly's. No good beer there to speak of aside from maybe Fat Tire, but there is titties at Showgirls and .... a volleyball pit at Curly's. Aside from that you can chug a half rack at the bomb shelter or head out to Thompson Creek to dump a few mags into a stump . Save your thirst for your destination so you don't end up an I90 casualty, or worse yet get pulled over by some Ritzville pigs.
